    Re: anothernord's '97 Outback - Supercharged! 7/26/10 - FMIC

I've been neglecting my member's ride. I shall change that.

    MODS!

Here's the dirty-ass Cusco 22-24mm adjustable RSB, that doesn't fit correctly; it must be bolted on the inside of one endlink, and the outside of the other. It still feels great though.

Also, Perrin rear differential bushings. These come in their "Rear Subframe Lockdown Kit:, and must have two big washers used to hold the outer bushings in. (there's 4 total). I did notice that the differential can really be heard with those mod.

And, Perrin subframe lockdown bolts. These just stick in the rear subframe to hold it in place under hard cornering.

Edit: The bolts that came in the kit were too short for my Outback, which has body spacers for the lift, so I just went to the hardware store and picked up some that were 1" longer, and they work fine.

Stock; Outbacks have taller struts and spacers for all the drivetrain components.

Next mod might include something involving a turbo.

Actually if you look in the FI section you will see that he is currently running a turbo setup on it and is gonna be going to a twin charge setup.
Does 3 or more Subaru's make you a hoarder?

Like the above post says, it currently isn't, but that's just because I've been to busy with school to complete all of the twin-charge project. I had been running the SC for a whole year, and it never left me stranded. A supercharged setup on a Subaru, being custom in nature, means that's it's as reliable as you put it together.

    Re: anothernord's '97 Outback - Supercharged! 8/16/2010

Ok, a much needed update. I grenaded the input shaft bearing on the transmission, soooo:

I spent about week reading forums, as well as my Haynes manual. Then I sourced a hoist and went to work.

Removed everything, disconnected all the hoses and junk:

    Engine out:

A beautiful flywheel, freshly machined, torqued, and cleaned with brake cleaner.

Engine hanging happily with the new Exedy Stage 1 clutch:

And after wrestling with transmissions, you get this:

The Haynes manual came in handy:

Double, triple, quadruple check everything because I'm paranoid, then do this:

Everything worked the first time! The clutch feels awesome, similar pedal effort as the stocker, but with a more precise engagement point.

The supercharge/twincharger build was no longer practical for daily driving, so and I got a good deal on the turbo kit, so I switched.
