AIR BAGS on 92 Wagon - Can they be removed?

Hey all, im new to the site.

Just wanting to look into lowering my suby, but its got the air bag suspension. Is there any way I can alter the ride height electronically???

Or will I have to change the suspension all together to the usual spring and shocks set up? Im from Australia so its a 1992 Subaru Liberty.

I would love to hear from any one with any ideas..

    Thanks.

Best way to get rid of it is to pull them out and replace it with some struts off another Liberty, some of the NZ and aussie guys here can point you in the right direction as far as whats better to get. Maybe you could find some RS takeoffs taht would work, and get a set of lowering springs taht match. Unfortunately the airbags can't be controlled how you'd like!! When you do remove the airbag stuff, try to remove the electrical components as well...shed a couple pounds!

I seem to remember someone had set up an electronic control to dump their air suspension legacy over on the aussie site http://www.rslibertyclub.org/forums/index.php, but i couldn't find the link with a quick check, maybe they can tell you.

Another option is to buy struts, springs, topmounts, and spring perches off a different subaru (gf, bf, or bg-- gd bolts up but isn't that great as far as spring rates) and put that on in place of the air struts. This is usually done because replacement air stuff is rather expensive.

    you would need everything there.

subaru has more R&D money than the aftermarket.
