    More Foglight Questions

I just got a set a 96 gt foglights (from Gator GT) and Im looking for some bulbs, a thread on NASIOC said they take H3's? I have no idea what that means.

Are H3s universal? Can I walk into Pep Boys and just buy a set of "H3" bulbs or am I better off going to the dealer? I guess this is more of a lighting question than a foglight question.

Pretty much any fog light will take an H3 bulb, it is very universal.

just a question... Why'd you get GT fog lamps when they won't fit in your bumper?

the 96 GT did have those fogs, there weren't many 96 GTs though. The 97 GTs had the bumpers with the wider fog openings. I have the same fogs as you do though.

you have work to do. If there wasn't already a switch, there will be no pre-existing wiring.

    correct-o.

You may want to pickup a relay from Radio shack as well as a decent amount of wiring.

Heres the basic hookup of my last system.

this page shows the bling bling switch I hooked up. just drilled and cut the switch blank/filler thing.

Marks thread has useful info on wiring up a stock switch
    https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?t=2217

A relay has 4 connectors on it. there should be something on the packaging saying which connector does what (each connector has a number) and if not thres probably something on the web.

here is the switch with connector:

    where does the relay go?

    and the foglight:

will I have to cut off that connector and just run the wire?

The relay can go anywhere, I have mine sitting by my fuse box

Probably the easiest way would be to cut it off, but with mine I'd like to try and keep it.

Your switch has relay built in, I thought. No need for a seperate one. You'll just have to find a wire diagram for what each of those wires are for (ground, power, power from a seperate circuit, etc...)

um......I don't think that the relay is built in,
I just took apart a switch, and all it is, is a switch,
someone back-me up on this on.
I think that I have the pin read out, one sec.

    yep....

    hope this helps.

You might be thinking of the second power out wire...the switch has the option to control two devices.

I just put it on the bolt hold the fusebox down (picture above). its not the best place but its good enough. You could also try putting it on the firewall. Anywheres good really as long as its not flopping around excessivly.

there's also some holes right behind the headlight. It looks like something for a horn to mount to... maybe there is supposed to be a horn there? Anyway, thats where I mounted my relay. By the way, the small holes look threaded, but they are not. A 5mm bolt does go in nicely and might wiggle out over time, but is a decent fit. So maybe something a hair larger, or and expanding screw, like for dry wall could work or something. Atleast then the relay is hidden.

I actually mounted mine underneath the dash with the inline fuses. A little more wire, but they are up out of the way too.

fog lights don't help with foreward visibility that much if you have them adjusted correctly The only time they really helped me was when I adjusted my fog lights as high beams for the HIDs
