    Ballin!

The stripe at the 12 o'clock mark is from tape I had on there when I used to auto-x the wrx. Some goo gone should remove the residue though it'll probably ware away with time if you hold the steering wheel at that spot like a g.

The GT-B suspension is Bilstein and they won't work so well on your car because of the Outback spacers. You'll be rubbing like crazy. The thing that works the best is getting regular Legacy struts and putting your stock Outback springs on them. Check out my H6 and rkrenicki's ride threads for more details.

spacers are there to allow for larger tire.
Yamazaki which part did you rub on and what where the wheel specs?
Im going on hunch here but he was most likely rubbing on the lower spring perches. that is easily fixed with lower offset wheels. (although you just bought mine with pretty high offset)

I know I have a 2nd gen but Im using sti struts with lowering springs and still have the spacers in. Thats with stock size WRX wheels and tires. I dont rub and I know its been done before on outbacks with stock outback wheel and tire size with no rubbing issue. Obviously wheels will play a big part. Not sure how much the bilsteins lower the car though.

I do plan to remove the spacers when I get around to dropping in the turbo engine and 5speed

I want to keep the stock diameter tires, since I plan on going to 245/50R17s on 17x8 in the future. The current LGT wheels will be my winter setup. I think I will me fine just dropping it with the LGT struts. I don't need that drastic of a drop, but something better than stock ride height.

lgt struts may be a tad tight, i had legacy struts with +48 offset wheels and had a tiny spot of rubbing on the bottom of the spring perch.

Yamazaki thanks for the pics as i couldn't remember what exactly was the problem, looking at it now Im pretty sure 1" lift spracers would solve your rubbing and bump stop problem

I can always get some spacers for these wheels. I am replacing the brakes and installing extended lug studs. I plan on running +40 offset with the 17x8s so that shouldn't be a problem.

With +40 offset you shouldn't need any spacers, i had 245/45/18 tires on 7.5 wheels with 42 offset and lgt struts with no issues, but if you really want i got two 5x100 20mm bolt on hubcentric spacers laying around

Hmm, I was thinking for the 225/55/17s I have on the LGT rims I have now. Those are +55 offset right? And how much for the spacers? :P

Re: DarkPhoenix's BH OBW- WRX Wheel and Painted Grill 23 Feb

Now I am toying with some ideas for a swap in my car. Being as the car can be had with an H6, and seeing how it is pretty simple compared to a turbo, it it starting to tug at me more and more. Now, the main concern was brought up by the Quebecois who did it on his 03 was the engine speed at 65 in top gear (3200 rpm). I can't see that being very good for fuel economy, so I am toying with different tranny ideas. All come from cars with 4.11 final drives so I won't need to change the rear end. I was thinking of doing this before I even did the engine swap.

1)BL/BP LGT 5 speed. It is more than likely one of the cheaper options. I know the 5th gear is taller in this than the OBWs, but I am not sure how much.

2)BM/BR 2.5i or LGT 6 speed. This would be optimal, the gearing is taller in the GT trans, but it has VDC and Hill Holder, and more than likely, different axles. It is probably expensive, but not STI expensive.

3)BH/BE GT 5 speed. This would be the a last ditch option, because it may not drop the RPMs enough for me, but it would be a lot cheaper than either option.

    Any input from the community?

@3200 rpm my H6 is doing about 85-86 mph

H6 swap is not that simple besides motor, ECU, TCU you also have auto HVAC to sort out.

spacers idk i think i paid about 50 for them so for you 20 bucks for both, just let me know when to grab them from my folks house ahead of time.

Phoenix, if you are coming to the MD meet and can wait, you can drive the H6 and see what it's like (particularly in the corners). I think that would help a lot.

Dodik, are you coming to the meet? I'd like you to check it out too. When I turn, the tires rub on the fenders and it would be worse if I put spacers on... I'd love it if you could identify what I did wrong so I could fix it because solving that problem would go a long way in me deciding to keep it.

But you have an 4eat right? I want to do it with a stick as I fall asleep driving auto. The plan is to buy a donor car with either a blown tranny or a rear end hit. Getting it to run properly and pass smog doesn't seem as difficult as doing a turbo swap. And the auto HVAC would be a bit of an upgrade and make it look cool.

Yamasaki when is the Meet? And I will see if I can get the time off.

Well, It is time to close this chapter of my Subaru legacy. The Outback's trans has given up the ghost, so it must be put to pasture. I can't see putting more money into it since the rust started eating away at the rear quarters AND the door sills. That and since I have a baby on the way, my wife is requesting I get something for family friendly (READ: Safe and reliable) So a new Page will be started for the BP OBW that I am picking up tomorrow.
