So, I'm in the work car (2007 or '08 Versa) the other day. I accelerate really hard out of a blind intersection, acchieve... whatever redline in first gives you in a Versa. Maybe 40, and the car quit completely. I slap it into neutral, and try starting it. It catches, runs for maybe a second and dies. same thing the second and third time. I'm slowly losing momentum, but manage to pul into a gas station parking lot.
the gas station that is in the same building as the garage I'm delivering to.
The garage that takes care of our store's cars.
The garage that had just finished changing the tires on another car of ours.
So, I hand them the keys, take the other car, and go on my merry way. apart from a phone call, I spent no more time there than I would have for the normal delivery, if the car hadn't broken.
Turns out? Squirrel (or mouse or other rodent) chewed a hole in the air filter and stuck an acorn inside the intake box. the raw fury of the Versa's motor had then sucked the acorn into the throttle body, and it wasn't able to open up.
I went on ebay that night and bought a decal of this guy:
And if my boss doesn't like it on the car, he can kiss my acorns.
