Sooooo I sadly gave up on flipping my 99 Outback, and I found this 521 for sale on CL a month ago. I missed owning my 510, and I need a truck to haul parts and other things that need hauling. haha Here's a picture of the car, and I'll update this soon.

I plan on keeping it stock. A good paint job and maybe lowered but nothing wild and crazy. Thats why I no longer have the 510.

I paid $700 for the truck. And my old 510 is now running and the owner did a burnout with the KA I had sold with the car. Makes me miss it a little.

haha yeah this isn't as rusty as the 510, and I paid way less for the truck. But on a good note the guy that purchased the 510 got the car running with the KA24, and is now driving it around the Lancaster, PA area. Hoping to meet up with him soon.

So I haven't touched the truck at all since I purchased it back in July. I'm keeping to my goal of finishing my garage (look for my other thread about my "man cave") and if all goes well I should be wrenching on the truck this weekend. But here's a picture of my truck photoshopped with a paint design I may use.

The entire truck is getting restored along with a few modifications. I haven't decided on what wheels I may want, but the suspension will be easy to lower.

Wednesday night I finally started working on the truck. It's been almost 5 months since I purchased it, and the garage is 75% completed. Still have to install little things and some will come after winter. I took off the tail lamps, rear bumper, exhaust, and gas tank. As for the bed bolts I discovered that my little truck came with 10 of them! Most full size trucks have 6-8, and weren't as rusty as mine were. Only 7 of the 10 bolts were freed, and hopefully this weekend I can cut off the rest of the bolts and lift the bed off the truck to expose the major rust issue on the frame rails. Can't wait!

The bed has finally come off and exposing the rust. After analyzing the rust it is not as bad as I first thought.

Currently in the process of getting a new section of frame rail from WA.

Lots to update. Started to remove the rear axle and leaf springs from the frame rails. Also ordered some smaller parts to get the ball rolling with shopping. More importantly I have my new rear frame rail section traveling to my house, and arriving on Dec 8th.




My girlfriend lent a hand by taking the scale off of the bed underside.



Picked up some LED trailer lights that will look great on the truck. Only $25 for the pair.

I've been off work since Christmas Eve, so I had one goal in my mind, work on the truck! Started out welding patch panels where there were small holes, and also welded the new frame rail into place. Coated the entire frame, suspension components, and rear axle in POR 15 to prohibit any more of the rusting process. I was hoping to have the truck on four wheels again, but I'm still waiting for parts. But I made some good progress and still confident in finishing the truck before summer.

Been a while since I posted on here. Work has been very busy with the winter months, and it's kept me out of the garage. But I finally found, bought, and shipped a set of fenders for the truck. I'm still waiting to find some suspension pieces before the rear end can be reassembled.

The rear suspension is DONE! This past Sunday I finally had all the parts and enough time to assemble the leaf springs and shackles. Also had a couple minutes to take out the bench seat in the cab to analyze the rust holes on the floor.

It's been two months and nothing has changed. Switching daily drivers around and cleaning out yet garage hopefully will end soon, and then I can tackle the floor.

So I'm making a promise to myself, family, and you guys here at SLi. I'm getting this truck done by next car show season! Getting back into working on the rust spots after I'm finished organizing a local car show.

No change to the truck since my last post. Waiting on a potential seller to cut away rocker/cab corner sections from a donor car in CA. Until then I'm waiting for something to fix.
