Oh, my god, this. I cannot undeerstand why people would take a performance car and render it nigh-upon undriveable.... Your car, at least, is a fantastically fast, capable machine.Originally Posted by meepers

Thanks for the responses everybody. That's why I like this forum so much. People here aren't dicks. I will go back and redo the ads with more pictures (it needs to be sunny for me to get some good pics though). I will also change the wording to say that this isn't for those who like to follow the herd. It's only for individuals who are looking for power!
And if anybody has any concerns about the doors - my 70 yr old mother with a bad shoulder had no issues opening/closing them. Sure, if you use it as a taxi or have lots of passengers, then maybe you'd get tired of telling everybody how to operate them. But for the other 98% of us, they are totally fine.... as long as you don't mind the attention.
Does anybody else have any suggestions how to make a better ad?

The more pictures the better. Serious buyers only on the add. The more info on the car the better. You can refresh the add on craigslist after 2 or 3 days I believe.

Finally got a sunny day and no pending work I need to get done. I'm going to take a BUNCH of pictures of both the Impreza (for the sale ads) and the Forester (I'll finally make an MR2 thread for it).

THAT looks great!
Awesome, I'll go with these then. Now I need to rethink the wording in the ads. I know I should focus on the uniqueness and the power, but I'm not sure how to do it.Originally Posted by Dead91silvia

I can try and help you tonight when I'm home from work. Basically, detail is good, but too much detail can be a hindrance and make people not want to read it at all.Originally Posted by YamazakiSubaru

No, but I haven't updated the ads yet either. Other than the hate mail from that one guy in the Frederick area and NASIOC, I recieved some positive responses. One guy said I should post on 92x.com forums because I may get a better response there. I am waiting until I have the ad finished to re-distribute the ad. The Merc is down right now and the Impreza has taken up poor weather duty for the time being, so I'm not in a hurry.Originally Posted by xoSubieLegacyxo

To counter what Robin said you can put all the details into the ad and as much as possible for serious people, and then do a TL;DR/summary of all those details down below. That way the buyer gets to chose to read everything or read nothing and text you to ask about more detail. "Here's an awesome car, it's awesome and includes lot of awesomeness and puts out awesome power. I included a full list of what's so awesome about this car at the bottom, but if you're too lazy to read here's a quick rundown."

So I was browsing a "crazy front end swaps" article and this came up:
Looks like someone else has done it to a wrx.

Yeah, that's actually the guy I got the idea from. He actually rallies his car and cracked up the front end. So he figured "why not?" I have a few other pictures of his car. It looks really good to me, and that's why I thought I should do it.

So posting the car for sale on the Saab 92x forum was helpful (even if it made me a little sad). I have greatly reduced the asking price of the car...
Even if it doesn't sell, it isn't such a bad thing. Any car that can get my wife to call "fun" and drive a little more spirited, is a car I shouldn't let go of easily.

Any update on the status of this beast?

Yeah, I'm keeping it. I actually never tried very hard to sell it because it's really the best car for driving here in the US. We sold the E500 and I'm going to be selling the S401 to the first organization that meets my asking price. That allows me to hold onto the Imprezaab forever. I took it to IAG and they did some diagnostic stuff to it (pre tune checklist), and found that it's running higher than normal compression. This is due to not having an air/oil separator on a built and stroked motor. So I have an appointment to get that, roll my front fenders so the tires don't stick out anymore, and a new map tune for maximum power. I want to see the most of what I can pull out of it on pump gas.
And I still haven't hit 50,000 miles on it yet.

So an actual update to the Impreza! The narrow Saab front fenders were rolled so the tires no longer stick out. It looks much better (and can pass inspection if it needs to). I also had an air/oil separator installed. That should take care of the oil consumption issues a bit and reduce the too-high compression. Something else was discovered....the turbo inlet pipe wasn't completely on. The shop had thought maybe the pipe was torn, but when they took it off it turned out to just not be totally on. So they just re-fitted it and now the car has a lot more power - even on the low power tune! So if you've ridden/driven this car in the past, it has more power than it felt like at the time. I will be getting the Impreza re-tuned after I return from Japan. One of the maps will be a race map to see what the maximum numbers I can get out of pump gas will be. I can't wait!

I needed a win after the ordeal with the Forester these days, so I installed a Homelink system in the Impreza. It's the same one I installed in the Forester right after I got it. So now I don't have to worry about forgetting the garage door opener in the car. No issues or fuss, and I was done within minutes! Finally a win!![]()

That car was already a monster. Glad to hear it's all going well!
Yes officer, I did hit a pedestrian, but instead of dwelling on that why not focus on how many I've missed?
Posted this up for sale for you. Will let you know if anything comes of it.
