This just started today in my 2004 Legacy LS wagon. The rear wiper blade seems to get stuck mid stroke or slows down to a quarter of the wiping speed. Has anyone else had this issue? Time to check the wires I suppose.

I would check wiring to see if there is anything loose, but it's likely your motor is either going out, or has something causing it to stick, like rust.
Rear motor failure is pretty common in states where they use salt (I've replaced motors on 3 Subarus in WI).

Well today on my way home from it stopped entirely mid stroke. So I'm looking at a new motor?
So a Nys salvage yard motor is probably not the best course.
a new motor from o'reilly is like $67 a junk yard motor will last you a few months, its better to just get a new one. I have done this on 4 subarus so far. its extremely common like knock sensors its just a subaru thing. get a new one.
if I wanted to lower my car I'd have gotten a GT!
