Bianrox's 2006 Legacy GT Spec.B going for Adventure Mode

    Hello all,

I haven't posted on this Forum in a while due to graduation, getting a real job, breaking my wrist, breaking my collarbone... It's been a rough last six months honestly but I'm feeling great now and I have a new Subaru to look forward to working on all summer! It wasn't an easy decision to sell my previous Outback, that thing was MINT, but I knew the opportunity of finding a Spec.B, also in MINT condition, within my budget was just something I needed to pull the trigger on. So here she is! Carrying on the SLWBARU tradition from my old BE. Mileage purchased was at 62,000, for an '06!

Better Pictures to come, still searching for a good before picture as well, just imagine what it looks like without roofracks haha

    Speaker Replacement

After immediately tinting it (SO FRESH) and undercoating it I went into the winter knowing that most mods would have to take place in the spring/summer. Also, like I said, breaking bones didn't help either.

The first real project I undertook with the car was replacing the stock speakers. This particular Spec.B did NOT get the upgraded sound system, (or the extended arm rest, damnit) and the speakers were the worst sounding stock speakers I had ever heard. This was not helped by the fact that the head unit was utterly miserable and powered the speakers with what seemed to be, most likely, a simple AAA battery or worse... This car was also born in that strange time in car history where vehicles didn't have tape decks anymore, but also hadn't caught on to the AUX phase either. (my neighbor has an '07 and HE got the AUX port... pshhh)

I knew that I needed speakers that could play with limited power and so I went with these Kickers because they can functionally play with as low as 2 watts. I purchased their two-way equivalents for the rear doors and dynamatted the heck out the both panels sides with much needed help from a friend.

You could literally see through the speaker. *shakes head

Here are some pictures of the rear doors...

And, of course, after the brackets didn't fit we resorted to breaking the OEM speaker out of it's bracket and then screwing the Kicker speaker back in.

This was a great mod in preparation for the upcoming summer and I plan to continue building up the sound system. It's going to be tricky because you can't easily replace the OEM head-unit, hence the Clean Sweep.

    DIY Rising Sun Subaru Emblem

Hey everybody, One day I came up with this idea and I wanted to share the project once it was finished. My new car, an '06 Legacy GT Spec.B, was fully de-badged by the previous owner and I wanted to do something a bit more unique for the emblem than leave it blank. I haven't seen anyone do anything like this before on forums and such and hopefully people can improve on this idea in the future. I'm far from crafty, but I found some awesome products that made this DIY super easy!

Here are the products I used...
An Emblem from a '91 Legacy (ebay)
    Rising Sun Vinyl Stickers (ebay)
220 grit sand paper, two types of double-sided tape and a plastic paint!

I started with snipping off the non-matching pins and then sanded down as much as I dared. The emblem was fragile and I didn't want to break it

I then painted the emblem, both sides, with about 10 coats... just to be safe haha

I laid the Vinyl sticker down on the block of the wood facing up and completely covered it with 3M double-sided clear tape.

After carefully pressing the emblem into the tape, over the Rising Sun flag, I used a very sharp pair of scissors and carefully cut all the excess tape off the sides of the emblem leaving it nice and flush and easy to maneuver. The block of wood made the emblem easier to press with the flat of your hand... at least, that's what I told myself.

I then laid three strips of the EXTREME, OMG, 20lbs OF WEIGHT 3M double sided tape as closely as I could together and then pushed it all together on the super convenient block of wood.
