WRX Springs on Forester Shocks? (BD5 Sedan)

Ok so here is the deal:

    I Have a 1996 Legacy Sedan
It came with Forester shocks and springs.
I have 02 WRX Sedan Springs

    Here is the question:

Will the WRX SPRINGS fit with the FORESTER SHOCKS?

    OR

Do I have to get WRX SHOCKS?

Can someone let me know? I'm building this car on a very limited budget.
Most of the parts installed were either donated for this build, or were pulled from a Pick-N-Pull.

Any and all POSITIVE help will be accepted.
I just need to know what can and can't work with my current setup and current on-hand parts.

Attached Picture is my actual car and how it currently sits.

I guess the best question to you is: What do you want to achieve, ride height, driving style. you honestly would be better off if you are trying to lower the car back down, seeing about swapping a local impreza guy who wants a lift. Putting shorter springs on the Forester rear struts may give you odd results.

Well there aren't much Impreza let alone Subaru enthusiasts out here with older Imprezas let alone Legacys that would do that. So I just need to know if it is possible to use the WRX springs I have with the Forester struts that I have installed already.

Springs are 02 wrx sedan oem? What year forester struts are they?

IF they fit they will wear the shocks prematurely because foresters have a taller strut.

It's SF5 Forester suspension, so 98-02 Foz. And if I have to use the Forester shocks till I get WRX shocks I am ok with that. I am looking for the proper shocks daily.

You'll need the correct spring perches on the front & tophats on the rear (match the springs, not the struts), but I don't see why they wouldn't.

That being said, SG Forester suspension is more similar to GD Impreza and they may be better matched. I'd be most worried about the rear spring rates & "saggy butt" on a Legacy with those sedan springs.

ITSuperPanda - the struts are longer, however, the springs are similar enough in length that I wouldn't be too worried about that unless he was using lowering springs. It's worth noting that the strut length does not affect wear, but spring rate & length will.

The fronts might work but the rears won't. The 02-03 wrx rear have a tapered springs while the forester is not. Maybe the 04-07 wrx lowering springs MIGHT work since they are not tapered.

Where in CA are you located?

Im just going to go with WRX Shocks since I still want to go lower than this raised forester height. Just need to find some cheap WRX shocks now. Haha

I was under the impression the taper was at the top, which would affect the strut top (which is the spring perch) but not the bottom. Wasn't it 04 that they switched to a taper, or am I not remembering correctly?

Ok, so I've finally gotten some decent money put aside for some decent suspension. NOW the questions is:

    Will THESE fit?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-2003-20...8d47b3&vxp=mtr

I want to make sure before I just go and buy them and then they don't fit. Because IF they DO, then I will buy them. IF NOT, then my search continues.

Also, I have heard that WRX springs on stock legacy shocks will work too. Is this correct or no?

They should on a BD/BG/BK - the rear tops will need to be rotated (I'm not a coilover expert, so I don't know if this is possible or not).

WRX (02-07) springs will fit on Legacy shocks so long as the tops are intended to match the springs. Reusing your Legacy tops will likely not work on the rear (may on the front as long as the spring perch, which sits under the top, matches the Impreza springs).

Ok. So some financial mishaps came up. So no Coilovers. But, am I to be under the impression that 1st gen Impreza shocks would work in place of legacy shocks, and will my 02 WRX springs work with the stock 1st gen Impreza shocks?
