    9006 Bulb Upgrade

So I have been looking around at what bulbs could be used as upgrades for the fog lights on my 09. I came across using a HIR2/9012 bulb. It uses the same connector as a 9006 bulb but the tab at the top of the bulb is slightly larger. It just needs to be trimmed down.

The HIR2/9012 bulb uses the same 55 watts and should last as long. It puts out about 2400 lumens vs the 9006 bulbs put out somewhere around 1000-1500 lumens, based on what I have read. This would be a good upgrade on 2nd gen one piece headlights or Outback fog lights.

If you are interested in buying them:

Hey 98legwag, how did these work out in your foglights? Are they really that much brighter? How would you rate em?

Yeah, I've been waiting to find a good deal on those myself. My 01 also uses the 9012 for upgrading the fogs, I can also go to the 9011 to upgrade the high beams. the bulbs are all about $30 each, so I'm holding off on that. If they were the low beams I could more easily justify it.

What would be a great upgrade would be to get clearer fog light lenses. I cleaned up my headlights, made a big difference. The fog lights seem cloudy, which has to cut down on output/visibility.
