RI state troopers aren't bad. From my experiences with them and what I was told. They don't really care for city cops I know that. My friend got out of a jam because of that (long story).

From my one experience with a trooper he was ok. I was doing 25 over the limit so it wasnt like he was busting my balls by pullin me over. He could have been a dickhead but he didn't give any attitude and let me go pretty quick, unlike the asshole Abington cops right around me.
What made you come up with this?
edit: WTF I was already at 1300 posts, I make more and I'm still there? hmmph![]()

I came up with this because of Gil's thread.

The Albany area NY state troopers are alright, I had one guy who pulled me over for squealing tires in the '83 subaru. I've seen them help people out.
The Utica area NY state troopers don't really seem to care, so they're neither good nor bad. I just see them driving around everywhere.
The guys on the thruway are pretty ruthless and willing to ticket.

I agree with reason on the RI troopers. A friend and I (he was driving) got caught doing 92 in a 70 in RI....couldn't help it straight roads. Trooper checked that he wasn't drunk and then let him off with 10 over the limit.
NJ troopers are notorious for giving out tickets for things you didn't do if you have out of state plates.
NYPD doesn't really care much unless you do something really bad. Once I was driving over a sidewalk and I hear a siren, I stop , back up, and go the correct way...didn't pull me over. Also had a cop pull up next to me when I was talking on a cell phone and wave his finger at me.

I'm marking OK because our troopers are too thin-spread to always be there when you need them. We have a problem with the number of law enforcement officers we have outside of the more major cities here. The ones that work the WV Turnpike are pretty ruthless on tickets, but other than that, I haven't had many problems...then again I work in public service and alongside most of the ones in this area. Even hang out with a couple. "I'm going to pretend my radar was on the fritz and you weren't really doing 106 in a 55...dickface."
Edit: I've run into a lot more problems with city cops here in Charleston...aside from the handful of cool ones, they can be real dicks.

Troopers here are ass holes.. always ready to harass you when they want.. but never around when you actually need help. NH cops think they are the friggin LAPD or something..
Don't run in with them too much, as they only patrol the interstates here, but I hear they're pretty strict on the speed limit on I-39 (the major North/South highway in Point). I've never had a run in with one. Local police are pretty cool though.

troopers in ohio (cleveland area at least) are cracking down because of a record number of deaths caused by accidents last year. they aren't too bad though. they make themselves visible and seem to give you time to slow down after you see them, they pride themselves on not hiding anywhere.

My most recent experiences with Pennsylvania troopers have mostly been off-road (i.e. emergencies not related to on-road violations, I called 911 once due to someone basically going into shock and they showed up within 10 minutes, maybe 5). They are sometimes to-the-point but that is sometimes the way they have to be I guess. Certainly not rude.
Last time I was ever pulled over was in winter '04 for a burned out headlight, statie let me off with a warning.
Around where I live and drive, if you drive like you are even TRYING to obey the law, you should probably not draw too much attention to yourself.
