So long as you would only be using the front strut bar for a BH it will fit your BE

I'm not sure of interchangeability with front STB, other than GC (93-01 Impreza) and BC (90-94 Legacy). IIRC, all EJ Subarus (93-05 Impreza; 90-04 Legacy; Foresters) use the same front strut top mount.....but there are two things you need to be positive about:

    1. Orientation of the top mount
    2. distance between the strut piston studs (read: center to center of the top mounts)

For instance: a JDM GC Ver4 (Japanese Domestic Market Impreza WRX STi Version 4) came with a CF FSTB (carbon fiber front strut tower brace) as stock equipment, IIRC. It would have fit on my 98 Legacy had the strut tops had the bolts in the same orientation. The distance was the same between the strut tops...and the strut tops are the same part number, but they are rotated slightly on the strut between the two models.

Once you find out those 2 points of inquiry to be identical to your situation from any other Subaru....you're should be golden.

edit: corrected.....you know, sometimes I'm not always on my game...thank you scott.

I've never heard of that group of cars being called 'ej' before. What are the qualifiers?

The dimensions of the front top mount has never changed, but all models released after 94 have the topmount bolts in a different position, iirc.

Sorry, I just grouped them together by their engine (EJ series). The previous Subarus had EA engines....I'm not up to speed with their suspension setup.

Scott, I believe you are correct about the bolts in different locations. I believe that the top mount style that we still have today, started with the 90 Legacy.

What Scott said, is basically what I was trying to get across.

    Matthew_bh, no, I don't know, so I can't say...

FIBUZ, can you step in here and help out?

So what u r saying the bolts location are different in all subarus (at least they r not unique in one style).....I checked the Whiteline catalogy and looks like the GC and BE/BH are compatible, same part #

Anyone try the GC strut on BE/BH?

Correcto, I don't think the pattern changed until just recently...hence WRX strut top mounts fit perfectly into my BD Legacy, which would lead me to believe that Legacy/Impreza (Both GC and GD (or whatever the bug-eye designation was)) strut tower bars will fit. Do yourself a favor, use the money you are going to spend on the strut tower bar and buy a rear sway bar -- you'll get 10x more bang for the buck and you'll actually notice a difference in handling...instead of adding more support to an area already supported by a fairly rigid firewall with a stock strut/spring setup (I'm guessing...?). The RSB will be more worth your while.

Just a quick note about front strut bars.

It's not just the orientation of the holes that makes a difference, it's also the HEIGHT of the mounting arm.
The heavy duty Cusco bar that fits GC series Imprezas, will NOT fit under the hood on the BD Legacy (or the previous version either). It has to do with vertical clearance on the arms.

The Legacies have hoods that sit much lower to the strut-tops, this creates the vertical problem.

I picked up a Cusco brace here in the US from an RS owner, trial-fitted it on the Legacy, so took it home to New Zealand and installed it on my GF wagon. No problem. The take off brace (on the GF wagon) was then sold to a Legacy RSK owner, it cleared the IC and the hood. It was a no-name brace, same as the cheapo ones you see on ebay for the GC Imprezas.

    scott: corrected. thank you.

huffer: so you're saying that you took the same FSTB and correctly fitted it to 3 different model subarus? a GC/GF, a BD and a BE?

this IS news! There was a number of threads in NASIOC about using GC camber plates on a BD and how it'd be off due to the rotation of the top mount bolts.

.....staying tuned for evolution of this discussion.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm saying. The only issue was vertical clearance.
The bar was length adjustable (spin the arms to adjust).

Note also, that the GC/GF was NZ made, the BD is US made, and the BE was JDM.

I'll try to dig up a pic of the bar I swapped around...

Edit. Ok, found a pic of the bar I had. I sold it to my friend Tony, this is his car:

    Edit again.
Here's a pic of my GF Impreza with a Cusco front brace installed - notice how much higher the arms are.

Well this is.....disturbing. Even my contact in Japan (at the time; who knew his shtuff...supposedly) was concerned about the bolt pattern to match the Ver4 CF FSTB on my BD too...although those weren't adjustable...so the height issue you bring up may have still foiled the plans.

Hey, I used to have that brace, except with Legacy 'flat' plates.....sold it to someone on this board a while ago. lol...I thought it was a no-name knock off. meh, oh well, came with the car...no worries.
