What's up guys? Long time since I've been on. I just bought a new car, and figured I'd say an official SL-i farewell, although I still see a handful of you on Xbox live from time to time, so I'll keep seeing you there.

My last fond memory of the wagon was my very first autocross. It didn't do that great. I was outclassed because of my springs and rear sway bar, so I was 3rd out of 4 cars in my class and 23/30 for the novice indexed times. The big issue though? My front crank seal went from a small oil leak to a monstrous leak (1qt a week)

A week and a half ago I traded the car in with leak, what sounded like rod knock, and a binding center differential (but they didn't know about that) for $1k. Then drove home in this:

It's a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-spec. That's quite a mouthful, but essentially it's their race package, without luxury items like leather and a sunroof. It's powered by a 4 cylinder turbo motor designed by the chrysler, hyundai and mitsubishi motor co-op. It's the same block and internals as an evo engine, but with a different head, manifold and turbo. It sends that power to the rear limited slip differential through a 6 speed manual. Couple that with the upgraded springs, front/rear sway bars, stabilizer bar, and fat brembo brakes- It's fun. Heck, this thing even came with camber bolts stock. No big mod plans, I intend to autocross it in stock class (A-street tire specifically), which has a very limited stack of mods you can do. It's a pretty rare car here in colorado, so if you see me throw up a shocker or something.

Happy motoring!

I'm glad they finally put together a package that makes sense. I drove the 2.0T and liked it more than the V6 (better torque band, shorter final drive) but found it dumb that the "Track" package requires you to get a sunroof (and therefore no helmet clearance). Congrats on the purchase!

Magoozle, funny I work down the street too. I work down across from the firebowl cafe. I also did not remove anything... I didn't really think about how rare the eibach's were- I was just sick of working on cars and getting dirty for little benefit. Hence the warranty haha.

Jey, this is right up my alley. The only thing I'm mad about is they also removed cruise control with this package, which doesn't make sense to me, since it added 0 weight, being a drive by wire car. But all the sport stuff is great for autocrossing and the turbo is good for altitude. Everyone says the V6 is better, but I tend to think this will do better here in Colorado. I do have to admit that this car can be a bit of a handful since the power delivery is so non-linear. In fact, it makes its peak horsepower and torque very early then it tapers off rather dramatically. So accelerating through a turn, everything is hunky dory and then BAM turbo - power - wheelspin - sideways - countersteer. AMS found that breathing mods and a boost controller helps flatten out the dropping power delivery though. Although again, don't want to void warranties and want to stay in stock class.

Awesome new car dude. Korean cars are definitely getting good. A Genesis coupe is on my short list for new car when I start looking in 2 years or so.

Sweet ride, I actually moved from Hyundai to Subaru. Traded in a 07 Santa FE Limited 3.3 for a 2010 Outback for the wife and got a Legacy for myself. I'm not rich by any means but my 02 Cavalier was on it's last leg and I was able to get a better deal for 2! LOL!

IMHO I think Hyundai should have placed the Genesis lineup as it's own. Sort of like Toyota did with Lexus. None the less as a Korean guy myself they have come a long way from the Excel days, but then again what did people expect from a $5000 brand new car :)

Nord, I might not be in colorado much longer. I am about to start a new job on monday and now they said they want to move me to boston, MA. I will be in FoCo this weekend though! I'll send you a PM with my number, maybe we can meet up, I'd love to check out your supercharged subie.

One last picture before I go, a friend Lyssa took these pics and finally put them up.
