I wanted to see what the morettes looked like matched to the body... now that I see it, not really digging it. I think they'd look better black to match the grille instead, give some definition to the headlights so they stand out and don't just melt into the hood and fenders

I have always thought the Morettes look tougher. The oem projectors look more clean.

The Morettes look great when color matched. I'm happy to see them brought nicely back to life.
You going to swap wheels with the wagon for the weekend? I think you should! (That's why I mentioned it! haha)
Dead91silvia

It crossed my mind. It would change them both up, but I still have so much to do, I might not really have the time.

I'd love to see some day time shots but as it sits now, I don't like the color matched morettes and I've got a feeling you don't either.
What are your thoughts on black housings? I think they look dope on a white body.

No, painting the all black will not work for me. I have though about blacking the headlight area and leaving the turn signal bit white. Other wise I think it looks like a car that got beat up and has 2 black eyes... haha

Think again. Those were just the only injuries sustained from it kicking the crap out of the rest of the automotive world.

What is it you're not sure about? They're basically the same as the JDM projectors, wires I wasn't sure about I traced to their source and dealt with accordingly. Can you post a pic of the wiring so I can compare with the pics I have?

Well, after not really driving my car for a month, I decided I should wash it. It was nasty. I also noticed my tabs where expired.... ugh... another $75 down the drain.
I did check with my guy at the dealer. I'm more then likely going to be ordering up a carpet set for it. Yes, you read that right, carpet from the dealer. New for under $300 my cost, so I figure why not. I'm know for having a super clean car so the car needs to live up to it.

Well... White Lightning is showing her age...
I need both front axles, front right strut is dead, head lights are different colors, sunroof is broke (only vents now), has a bad water leak in the trunk, brakes are spongy, Airbag light is on (clock spring I think), CEL's for a #4 cly missfire and EGR, HAVC lights are burned out, Alarm fob broke off my key chain, TQ bind is getting worse, she's blowing blue on start up, and it needs a new windshield.
Guess thats what happens when your car has 260,000 miles on the body and 290,000 on the engine.
Man... typing it out makes it look worse then it is!

Let's break this down one by one....
I need both front axlesChanging those out isn't difficult for you. That shouldn't be a big problem.
front right strut is deadSame as above. Hell, even I can change struts. This shouldn't be an issue at all.
head lights are different colorsAnother non-issue. Either you just need to clear the lens, or you need to change the bulb. Either one doesn't take more than 20 mins.
sunroof is broke (only vents now)You fixed/replaced more difficult sunroof issues before. I could post a DIY link to a thread you wrote. This shouldn't be an issue.
has a bad water leak in the trunkOkay, I'm not entirely sure. I guess track down the leak and plug it. It sounds simple, but I don't know the reality of it.
brakes are spongySounds like a good time to upgrade your whole brake system. That should've been on your 'to-do' list anyway.
Airbag light is on (clock spring I think)Sounds like another part-replacement. Another non-issue for you.
CEL's for a #4 cly misfireHmm.... okay, this might be an issue. But I am certain you have the ability to deal with it.
and EGR, HVAC lights are burned outSo replace them. So what?
Alarm fob broke off my key chainCry me a river. Replace it. Or don't. This isn't a real problem with your car.
TQ bind is getting worseI admit, I have no idea. My understanding is so low, I don't even know what system we're talking about here.
she's blowing blue on start upSee above.
and it needs a new windshieldYeah, it may need to be taken to a place for this. Take it wherever you took the GT-B to put in it's new windshield after you cut it in half and welded it back together.
At your skill level, I see only a couple possible problems. But take care of those and it'll be like new again, right?
Dead91silvia

^ BRAHAHAHHAHAHHAA!!!!!
That was awesome! Even more awesome since you posted it!
And yes, most of this can be fixed in a day, if I had the time and motivation.
As for the key fob, thats the BIGGEST deal of all! :smt022
TopScoobLEGO
01-18-2014, 02:18 AM
for tq bind are you low on gear oil? i know you arent welded so your torque bind should only be from low or bad gear oil right?
blue smoke on start is coolant isnt it? thats no good, hate to tell you what that would mean.
misfire on 4 for me was helped with new spark wires, i still get it when im doing 100+ and am at over 4k revs for very long. otherwise its nonexistent. it might be my coil pack...

It wasnt a lip, just some defusers I picked up off Ebay for like $50... I took them off when I took off the skirts. If you want a set, I'll sell you mine. Still in decent shape. They are just collecting dust in the shop. Pretty easy to install.
I did get some things done to my BD recently. Installed a new/used right front axle and rebuilt my PS pump. Also got a MOMO bag for the wood grain wheel. :smt023

Always wondered why the hell you guys put up with it.
You mean.. "put the plow blade all of the way down, and actually remove the snow"?
We have the same problem here, kinda... The biggest problem we have is we get so little snow that one, people have no idea how to drive in it, and two, the plow drivers cant drive it in. Now having said that, we have a TON of hills and even people from the midwest have a hard time in our snow. I just have a good time.
We use very little salt mixed with sand, and they just started using it. Lots of people are pissed about it, more so the car people and the tree huggers so it is low on the use side. Most of the tie it's just sand. :smt023

TQ bind is getting worseI admit, I have no idea. My understanding is so low, I don't even know what system we're talking about here.
Binding centre diff issues, yaaaaayyyyy.
There is a valve that controls hydraulic pressure to bind and unbind the centre diff in older subie gearboxes, basically anything "4-bolt", that gets old and tired and the spring loses tension and they get gummed up etc. One can remove the centre diff, stretch the spring back out, and clean it, and the issues will go away for another 50,000 miles.
But I like that manual conversion idea. That was a good idea.
Also, I'll grab a quote for an LTD foggie for yah.

I'm working on a new Top Secret cosmetic change to the rear. Hoping to have it done here soon. Just think, different wing.
Also working on a new hood configuration. I have a scoopless hood and the hood metal and scoop from an Impreza RS/Outback Sport that will be welded on and I'm hoping to have this done in the next month or so. Trying to get it done for WCSS. Being that the GT-B will more then likely not be on the road by the time the show comes around.

Maybe... only a hand full of people know I even have it. It's not a Blitzen, like I have talked about before either, or an STi. Still wanna give that a try someday also.

Pics will be coming soon, but I have a new deck lid with a JDM center garnish, shaved badges, and lock. Also has a JDM BE wing, possibly a Liberal. Looks a lot different for sure.
Also got the Z32/BNR32 Bif brakes installed. What a pain in the ass! They are massive though. Good pics will be coming in the next couple days after WCSS.

Nope, JDM deck lids without a spoiler have the 3rd brake light just about the center garnish. USDM cars do not. They have the 3rd brake light in the back window. Now the JDM lid with the spoiler did not have the light in the lid, it's in the spoiler. :smt023

What is an RS-B? Is that an AUS model? It's not in any of the Japanese brochures...
Reuben
08-21-2014, 08:11 AM
Oh don't be so pedantic and semantic. It's not a logical fallacy to assume that because there was a destinction between GT an GT-B for the wagons, that there should be the same between RS and RS-B, especially since it got exactly the same bilstein badge under the RS badge. Barbbachello, what Yamazaki is implying is the RS, after 96, was an RS-B essentially, there was no RS-B's as such, all the RS's were bilstein equipped with the 17's etc, no seperate models like GT and GT-B with the wagons. They were just advertised as an RS, and if you bought an RS, you got all the trimmings of a GT-B.

Oh don't be so pedantic and semantic.
You know that if I weren't pedantic and semantic, then I wouldn't be me. When we allow for sloppy interpretations, we allow misinformation.
Also, there was a GT sedan. That was the equivalent of the GT wagon. The RS was the equivalent of the GT-B (or rather, the other way around since the RS came first). So why would anybody think there should be an RS-B? What I don't understand is why Subaru didn't just call the wagon an RS too. (Yes, I know they are carry-overs from the 1st gen, but still)

Well, the custom hood project is coming along nicely. I have a couple thing left to do, but it's done for the most part.
Hood is the factory BG/BD scoop hood. Figured the hole in the hood would be easier to deal with and it was.
The center scoop is from an Impreza RS/Outback Sport. I wanted a little bigger scoop so I figured why not? I had a bent up hood from a customer car and saved what metal I thought I would need.
The offset scoop I got from the UK for a GC Impreza. I have it lined up with where the air box is so it will be functional.
Still more work to go, but the hard part is done! =)

I know some will love it, some will hate it. This was all just an experiment to see what it would look like and also a bit of a slap to the bone heads that grind their paint off to let it rust and look cool.
The finished product for my hood project. I'm still waiting on my carbon main scoop, but I should have it tomorrow. It needs to re-cleared for sure though.
So it started as a normal BG/BD GT/Outback scoop hood. I grafted in the scoop section of a GC RS/Outback Sport hood. I then cut the small scoop in that I picked up from Ebay. The hood it's self was a bit trashed. Dented up and nasty paint, so it was a perfect candidate for this project.
I used a grinder with a 36 grit disk to strip the paint. Then prepped it and cleared it with normal clear coat. I have cut and polished the paint to give it a smother finish and it also seemed to give it more depth as well.
It does look pretty neat in the sun! Cool little optical illusion.
These pics where without a lot of sun...

Well, here they are! My custom painted Motegi wheels. I'm not sure of the model, but I know someone here more then likely does. I had picked them up for pretty darn cheap, but they needed a lot of help. I sandblasted them, did some work to some of the spokes then sprayed them with a base clear. It's a Nisssan color super close to the Volk TE37 color. Someday I would really like a set of Volk TE37's but that day will have to wait.

I got them with the gold paint... This is 2 of them after sandblasting. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I so far have $150 into the wheels with buying them and the paint, so I figure thats a pretty good deal. ;)

Well, I had the pressure washer out yesterday and got... a little... carried away with it.. haha.
I started with the floor mats for my BH Outback I picked up about a month ago. Then did the cargo mat, them all the trunk flooring bits, then some drip pans... then I looked at my BD's carpet and figured why the hell not. We have been having some nice weather so I figured it would dry pretty fast.
Needless to say, it was WAY more nasty then I thought it was. Here are some before shots.

Well, getting stuff done to the BD. I still have a fare bit to do to the motor with the turbo setup, but it's all the smaller things now. Also having a clearance issue with the intercooler, but it's not far from done.
That being said, Just about everything with the cosmetics have been finished up. I still need to detail it, but she's coming together nicely.

Well, she's on the road! Has an "early" boosting issue, but cant really remedy it without a upgraded turbo I'm told. Only real problem's it's had is it likes to stall out coming off of acceleration to idle and about every 3rd start or so, it likes to run on 3 cylinders.
I will say though, White Lightning definitely has more lightning! Much more fun to drive! =)

I couldnt run the OEM one at all because of clearance problems. I'll get some better pics of the turbo setup tomorrow. It was a pain to make it all fit with using the EJ25D intake manifold.
Anyway, here are some updated pics! =)

I'll get them soon, maybe today. I had an issue last night. Hoping the motor didnt blow. haha... Seems like a fuel/air related problem. I do have a 5 speed, but for now, it will stay an auto.

Thank you, sir! I'm not feeling the wingless bit, but I want something other then stock but having a problem finding something I like.

Not sure what one you are referring to...? If its the switch under the driver window switches, then it should be the power lock switch.
For another update... I did get the front 02 hooked up, but I now have another problem and that is that it doesnt want to run now. I can rev it and it rev's fine, but as soon as you pop it into gear, it says "NO!". lol... Not sure if the MAF, MAP, or maybe the fuel pump have an issue. I'll mess with it a little today. It went from really fun to almost needing to be towed home. I finally got it to drive under power with having the MAF unplugged. Still ran like crap.

What turbo?
Dead91silvia
08-25-2016, 01:14 AM
Here is the setup as of now... that I can remember.
-TD04 turbo (WRX/Baja)
-EJ255 exhaust manifold and cross pipe
-EJ255 oil filter cooler
-Custom catless up pipe with mild rotation
-Custom 3 1/2 catless down pipe with mild rotation
-Fuel regulator (forgot the brand)
-Prov BOV (from my Pulsar GTIR)
-Custom BOV adapter mount
-Baja Forester XT intercooler
-Modified 02-04 WRX intercooler pipping (cut to fit everything better and would also not fit the Baja XT intercooler)
-Custom fitted intercooler pipping, including parts from Z32 300ZX turbo and Audi A4
-Spector air filter and random air filter adapter
-Generic intake pipe
-Modified GC mid-pipe
-Larger bell and extended pipe for Fujisubo muffler to open up exhaust and also clear diff skid plate
-Oil pan modified with oil return drain (part was from a cooling pipe)
-Oil feed line from EJ20H (secondary turbo)
-Modified turbo cooling lines plumed into heater core lines
-Relocated wiring on firewall
-Relocated cruise dootle bobber to clear turbo
-Modified AC line to clear turbo and intercooler
-WRX fuel pump (original 25D pump just died this week)
Thats all I can think of right now, but should be most of it. I did have the front o2 sensor extended and hooked up, but then a bunch of crap happened and shit broke. So un hooked it for now. It getting about 15 mpg, but part of it is having no o2's hooked up. It also eats oil a bit, but I think it's from the oil cooler so I'll address that soon.
Other then that, it pretty fun! Even with the auto, but that being said, this car would be harder to drive without the auto. For some reason, the auto keeps it from stalling out at idle. I manually shift it about 90% of the time to keep the rpm's up. Sometimes I drive with it in 3rd, but will put it in drive on the freeway and it seems to do fine. I can tell the bottom end is not liking this new setup at all, so I might look for a EJ22 bottom end to mess with later before the other hybrid gets built. I was planing to have it dynoed this week, but I'll have to do it later since I have no time for it. Wanted to run it on a dyno before it breaks to see what it really puts down. haha

Get yourself a piece of metal between that turbo and the intercooler mate, double especially do it since it has a silly plastic tank on it. You'd be surprised how bad heat soak around one of those things gets!! I remember after I singled the beast, I started getting clutch fade... The damn turbo was cooking my clutch fluid! And there was a good 30cm between the two! One tiny bit of weather board flashing bent up as a shield bolted to the clutch master later, never had another issue.

It's on the list to do... I have so many little things to get done. The new motor I'm building will have a lot of different things going on, like the proper intake manifold. haha... But yeah, I'll get a head shield figured soon. Just too many other things to get done on the other cars right now. =/

Soo... I'm about to start putting my 255/205 Hybrid together in the next week or so. Also sending it to a friends shop to have the wiring done since I have no desire to do it myself. Also found out the with the wiring, converting to manual is something I'll need to do... I know Most would do it anyway, but I kinda liked the idea of leaving it Auto.
Also, if anyone finds a SYMS BD wing anywhere, let me know. I've been looking for one for a while now.
Didn't you have one? Or was that the BE Syms wing?

Well, I havent been around for a while. lol
White Lightning hasent done much in the last year and a half. With lot of personal family and life events, I just havent been around.
As for updates? It has a massive oil leak, again. I havent had it licensed for driving for that reason. I'm looking for a new wing for the deck lid and trying to decide what I want to do for a motor since it seems the turbo 25D may have lost a HG. I'll being working on it here again soon, but I've just been working and working on other projects and hobby's.
I do have some pics, but they are on my phone and newer laptop and I havent setup anything new for photo hosting. I'll get something posted eventually. lol.

Nothing much new... Still has the oil leak and to add to that you can hear the rod bearings are not happy, but that was expected.
The E-Tune II skirts have been sold. Have Brad's old Hipo-sleeks going on as soon as I paint them.
I have a 22E short block on a stand and an extra set of 25D heads ready to go on. Might work on doing a front mount to de-tune it a bit more drivable. No longer planning a hybrid 205. If I swap it, it will just be a 205 auto bug eye for the simplicity, cost, and reliability.
It's literally been sitting with weeds growing through the wheels for the last year. Just no motivation for it.
Anyway, theirs your current update. Lol. I'm going to be deleting the oil cooler to see our that kills the oil leak so I can drive it till it tosses a rod. Haha

Well... I remembered my login! Haha!
So poor White Lightning has been sitting for years.. and years. As evidenced by these pictures that I will try to upload in my technical inept knowledge. Just recently took the big brakes off as I have no desire for them anymore, and we'll soon be sold. I recently had white Lightnings doppelganger dropped off, to grab a lot of the stock original parts, as I am debating on reverting the car back to stock, to sell it. I've owned this car since 2007 and I have not really driven it since 2017. The goal right now is just to make it a daily driver again. I have a 2.2 short block and a set of 25d heads to put another motor together for it to become a daily again. I do enjoy this car however I only have one covered parking spot now where before I had a number of them. Because of this, White Lightning, and my other cars have suffered and have been deteriorating.
