Hello all,

I've been lurking around these boards for a few weeks now since stumbling across it. What a hidden gem it is! It's teh first universal (as in not generation biased) Legacy board I've come across.

Anywhoo I'm a college student in last semester of school - thank god - and am the proud owner of a 2000 LGT Ltd. I purchased it a year ago next month with 142K and have been loving it since, bringing her up to the 170k mark already. Unfortunately its auto, but I was in the market for a car and refused anything but a Legacy and this was the best example in the price range that I could "afford".

My love for the Legacy began when I was 15. My dad was in the market for a car and we're the type of guys who like cars that are not so mainstream. I introduced him to the Leggy and that was it. It was the car I learned to drive 5spd on and from that pointed I promised myself to own one of my own at some point.

It took a few years of going through some beaters - 1st car was an 89 Dyansty and second car was a 93 Tempo (both hand me downs) until I purchased my first car, a 97 Sunfire GT. That car was a great car for a 17/18 year old but still wasn't a Leggy.

My oppourtunity came when my little brother wanted to buy a car. He was looking around and couldn't find anything descent for his price range and was getting pretty upset. Then I realised that an oppourtunity had presented itself

To make a long story short my old Sunfire is still in my driveway under the ownership of my brother, and now a Leggy is there beside it with my name on the ownership

My old car, now my brother's. The summer before I gave it to him.

 No kidding. Especially when you owe some on the car still, and have had a girlfriend for 5 years who is expecting a ring soon...

Sometimes its real tuff to keep my priorities straight. Needless to say I can't wait to start making some real money lol.

Get the ring first, then you have two incomes to play with.
Trust me, the girls like modding just as much as the boys... ;)

Ring's coming soon, hopefully by the end of summer.

She doesn't have a car at all, never has. She didn't mind my Sunfire but when I sold it to my bro I sold everything else I had put into it too to get as much cash as I could for the Leggy.

When I bought the Leggy it was bone stock and I was going to drive it that way. She bought me my sub, amp and deck as presents as she missed the bass lol. Then for Christmas she payed to get my windows tinted. I missed those more than she did but now she's glad that I have them again.

My birthday was a week ago today. I'm still working on getting my hands on the gift she gave me money to get. Hopefully its not too much longer.

Welcome, and wow! Nice girlfriend too. Mine was nice enough to put some summer tires on my car.

Good luck with the ring!

Wow... seems as though there's a lot of college kids cruising around in Leggys. All my friends told me I bought an old mans car (that was until the snow came down though hee hee  )

Yeah, there are quite a few legacys running around my campus of all years. Alot of Subarus in general from imprezas to outback wagons...

At least she buys you stuff for the car. My girlfriend is not into cars she hates them.

She used to hate buying me things that weren't "meaningful" until I explained to her that I spend a lot of time in my car, most of the time either me alone or the two of us, and that if she buys me something for it that I want and otherwise wouldn't buy myself for a while anyways I'd think of her everytime I looked at it / used it

An understanding girlfriend...ahhhh.

I mean, we mod our houses all the time, right? There's so much stigma around modding cars.

Nice line... ;)

Mark - cars don't usually appreciate in value. Modding a house is a little different, and in the majority of cases improves the value of the house.

Plastic flamingos in the front yard don't count though. :)

Edit. I know Mark knows this stuff. He's a smart guy. I'm just tired.

Prescisely. The stigma around car modding is exactly why this is true.

Although poor taste in house modding can result in lower value as well ;)
