Its from a Turbo-II RX-7 (2nd generation). This is before the twin-turbo version came out so it's bigger then the turbos in the 3rd generation RX-7s. I just picked it up today so I need to totally clean it out and figure out if I am going to get a top-mout or front-mount intercooler.
I have a friend that is going to do custom piping for me, just gotta figure out the type of insteall im going to do.
Any suggestions would be appreciated :)
Soon my Legacy will be one to definetely brag about :)

Cool, should be interesting to see what you can do!

congrats on the freebie. now that you have it be prepare to spend some money. how many psi do you plan on running? topmount would totaly make the car a sleeper (people will expect a standard n/a legacy) and will probably run you about $600. when you clean it make sure the inner turbines are in good shape and the bearings are in good shape so that it will spool up well (some rx turbos have a problem with the bearings wearing out).

FREEBIE!!! FREEBIE FREEBIE!! ZIP! ZERO! NADA!!! (in my best monster garage voice)
That is awesome. Do you have the manifold and all the other doo dads to attach it or will this be a Piece by piece project?
Is it possible to add a turbo without changing out your ECU? I imagine you would have to run a larger fuel pump and possibly bigger injectors, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator but what else needs to be done? I have never owned a car with a turbo or wrenched on one for that matter. I am very intrigued.

Top mount would definitely be cool, but so are front mounts  anyways, if you are lookin for a sweet top mount check these guys out, this is the install on one of my friends WRXs but they custom make intercoolers and do good stuff, they are called The Speed Factor. They might also be doing my engine swap for next to nothing in exchange for a big sticker on my back window

I have a friend that does custom pipe mandrel bending that will do all the piping for me so that is all covered. I plan to run about 6 pounds of boost through it tp make sure everything is working good, and if it is, I will run 9 pounds daily.
Also another cool thing is the same guy who I got the turbo said, also told me that he is willing to give me his old top mount if I want it so that would also be great.

Sweet score!
Unless you're going to resleeve the motor I'd be wary of running 9 psi on an EJ25 personally.
I would also check the effeciency range on the turbo to see how it will perform at 6 psi. It may turn out that you'll want to sell it and get a smaller IHI VF11 off the USDM 91-94 Legacy turbos or some other smaller turbo.
You'll want to find out what kind of wastegate that turbo has too. If it has a 9 psi wastegate actuator then there is no way you'll be running 6 psi, know what I mean?
I would highly recommend SEM with larger injectors, FP ect..
For a TMIC I would just get an OEM WRX or STI. You can probably pick up the WRX one for under $100 over on NASIOC and the STI for around $300-400. At 6-9 psi the WRX one is plenty big IMO.
I would go over to NASIOC and talk to the RS-T guys. There are lots of guys over there that have gone FI on the EJ25 and you can probably find an outline for your build and some great info that could save you time and money.
Good luck with the build!

It has an internal wastegate on it which is nice, but my friend that I got it from when he was running it, had it blocked off and put a HKS blow off valve on it. He is willing to sell that to me if I wanted to do that and I'm pretty positive that I will go for it.
I also plan on getting new injectors one I do the install, just have to figure out which ones.

How do you block off an internal wastegate? That doesn't make any sense to me. :?
If you bleed all of the boost off before the wastegate actuator then you will have no way to control boost and you will blow your engine up! The wastegate actuator is the little bronze colored cylinder thing on the turbo. It requires a certain amount of boost to open the wastegate. What ever the wastegate actuators rating is ( 6 psi, 9 psi, 13 psi, 15 psi ect) is the minimum amount of boost you can run. If you don't use the wastegate then the turbo will just spool up to whatever psi it can (probably 20+ psi) and dump super heated plasma gas straight into your engine (not recommended). ;)

There is a little plug thing that covers it up and forces it to escape through the blow-off valve.

Well IMHO that is NOT the right way to go at all. All you're going to be doing is creating a huge boost leak! Something to consider is that your buddies RX-7 has MAP based fueling IIRC but your Legacy has MAF based fueling. So you will be dumping metered air to atmosphere and the car will run like poo. Use the wastegate and a MBC, trust me.
