Ive read a few posts here and there over the past few months about leaking jdm tail lights. i just bought a set, including the center section and i was wondering if i should go ahead and save myself the headache and seal them before i install them instead of waiting for a big rain to see if they fill up with water.

What did you all seal yours with and how'd you do it?

Thanks

I scraped as much of the oem stuff off the lights and the trunk as I could, then cleaned everything with solvent (goof-off). Once they were all fresh and clean I put a bead of permatex black silicone adhesive sealant (http://www.permatex.com/products/automotive/auto_adhesives_sealants/sealants/Permatex_Black_Silicone_Adhesive_Sealant_b.htm) where the old gunk was and installed them. Thus far no leaks :)

I second aussiedan, I sealed mine straight away. I used generic silicone sealant that can be found in any parts store.
