Still trying to figure this out. the usdm power mirrors have 3 wires and i have the pinout for those in my haynes manual, but each of the jdm mirrors have 2 extra wires to cotrol the power fold hotness. that real question is which wire is which on the switch. Ill post a pic here in a minute.

If you have a multimeter set it so it measures resistance. Start testing tires and pushing buttons. The resistance should go from infinity when the switch is open to approximatly zero when the switch is closed. I think theres a continuity setting on some multimeters that sortof does the same thing.

Theres probably a better way, but thats all i can think of.

I'm kinda confused but if I am right, you are refering to mirrors that fold in when not being used or at the flick of the switch. If this is so wouldn't you have to use a series of relays like power windows use? If it's only 2 wires this would mean that you would have to flip flop the power and ground just like power windows.

If this is true you should be able to get a wiring diagram for one of the new mercedes that has the same features...or just wire it up like power windows.

I am going to feel like an ass if you are refering to something totaly different.

Subaru folding mirrors are similar to Nissan design and do not use a relay. In fact I believe the switch has a Nissan logo (my '95 Legacy GT did) and a Nissan style connector.
Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Mazda all use "mirror control" modules which contain relays or diodes.
The Subaru fold switch is triple throw, meaning it has three positions. There should be two wires that switch polarity when you move the switch from in position to out position.
Unfortunately it is not as simple as using a multimeter, because you have to know or find which 2 wires are for +12V and ground, and when you move the switch those wires will reverse...its not easy to do but its still possible.
There is a faster way if you are brave enough...
You can open the switch and trace the circuit board from the switch to the connector pins. Be sure to open the switch carefully and over a table or desk, face down or you will drop the metal contacts and have to fool with them to try to find out where they belong.
I have never checked a Subaru switch, but I have a few Nissan ones that should be similar. If you want me to check let me know, the connectors look similar to what you have.

the 2 furthest to the right(top & bottom) ;) I just installed 1/2 of these on my legacy about 10 minutes ago...kinda a PITA and I don't know where to mount the switch...oh well, i've got it working with the stock buttons and no folding for now.

one thing I might suggest, is that you should use the stock mirror base(part that the mirror swivels on) because it is angled properly for 'driver' versus 'passenger' in japan. you'll have a devil of a time aiming the mirror right otherwise. I had to cut out a little bit on the insider of this base to get it to sit properly too once screwed down.

good luck.

Thanks for all the info. I should be installing these soon, so i will post what the pinout is supposed to be once i figure it out. And Yes, it does say nissan on the switch.
