Holy crap. That engine bay is clean! It's even clean down in areas that people usually miss. What do you do/how do you keep it clean like that?

it only stayed this clean for only 4 car shows which is about 2-3 months.

For the first time, just pressure wash every single area and wipe down all the hoses good. After everything is dry, just spray the engine detailer.

Everytime before car show, I would simply just wipe down all the dust and spray engine detailer again.

You spray the whole bay? What about things like the alternator? I always thought it was a bad thing to get it wet...

The alternator area, I used plastic bags to cover nicely without getting it wet.

THAT IS CLEAN :shock: . What exactly is this detailer stuff you speak of. I have never seen anything that you put on after you wash it, just stuff you use to wash it.

And whenever I clean my engine bay I get everything wet, including the alternator, but I don't start it for at least 24hrs and if possible keep it in the sun. That way there is no water that can cause shorts and ruin stuff left over when you start it.

majority of people who power-wash just leave the car running and go nuts on the engine bay. A little bit of arching from the alternator isn't the end of the world.

Essentially its just a detailing oil like Armor-All

Anyways nice engine bay Terrence it takes some serious TLC to look good these days. Unlike myself who just sprays flat black and drives :-D

Simple Green does wonders too, it was recommended to me by someone on here. Spray it on, let it sit for like ten minutes while it does its work, then simply rinse with a garden hose.

Terrence, what do you usually use to illuminate your pics? I'm assuming two slaved flashes for the exterior shots? Just wondering. Car looks great as always.

EDIT: also, where did you get your shift boot?

I forgot to reply this thread before... I used lightroom and photoshop to edit. Yes, I used 2 580 flash for most shots.

Are you still going back to stock? Would hate to see all the work you put into it disappear... One of my favorite BE's...

I'm looking at getting a 2-way alarm and my local shop installs Compustar alarms, how do you like yours? Also when you installed the Hella Supertones, did you use the stock wiring or do you have to wire them seperately and to the battery? Would like to use the stock wiring if possible? Thanks

I extended the stock wire so I can mount right behind the grille. However, I heard that if you use the actual fuse that comes with it, it's even louder.

I like my compustar but it is a little sensitive.
Yes and no for first question, I am taking off most of the parts off the leggy except the exhaust and intake. This will be my DD and winter beater. I hope my new car won't see any rain or mud if possible :P

Nice, my stock horns are in behind the grille although the brackets are a little low, it's good to know that you can just extend the stock wires and change the fuse... Sad to see the Legacy turned into a DD though, what will the new ride be???

Could I get the length of the hood dampers fully extended please... I'm trying to figure out if other hood dampers will fit on our cars (e.g. WRX, 2.5rs, etc).

Did you wrap the door switch panels in the dry carbon as well? And tips on applying it to the sharp edges and fold on some of our dash parts? Thanks

not on the door switch panels. i dont know about others but when we tried to wrap those panels, the material was too thick and we thought that we might not able to open the doors so we just didnt do that part.


For the sharp edges, you have to put that "cement" glue thingy on the edges when you are wrapping it.
When we doing it for the first time, we didnt put that glue on and the vinyl just slowly coming off near the tranny area.

if you want to able to wrap the door switch panel you need to sand down the panel first so it can accommodate the farbon ciber thickness :-D

Also the same goes when sticker bombing with hi-quality vinyl stickers..

How's was the ride on the 18's compared to the 17's?

well it's hard to compare because on my 18s, i was running cheap summer tires (general UHP) 225/40/18. The sidewalls are much softer than my dunlop star spec z1 on my 17s. Therefore, the ride was actually more comfortable just because the sidewalls are soft and not as bumpy. Overall, in terms of looking, 18s are better but i would prefer my 17s for handling and they are lighter too for exact same rims just different size.

to answer your question, i used 3m double-sided foam tapes to tape the sideskirts on the sides and bottom

i dont think i used any screw at all but again...it was at least 3 years ago when i installed them
