Hey fellas its been a while. I suppose its due for an update.
After i wrecked it i took a break from it. Now, i am taking this time to repair the car and get all the weird glitches and whatnot figured out. I guess a few Pics can hurt. People who followed this build know i have attempted to paint it like 3 times and had epic failures every time. So we are trying again. I bought some nice, quality paint, and am paying a guy to spray it.
Ive been sorting all the stupid little issues with the wiring in it. The only one i cant seem to solve is my tachometer. I also did a new headliner in it, and a few other things.

Im about 15-20 hours in sanding so far and not even 20%. The rust and dents are very time consuming. Pictures of said dents and rust:

Probably about the same shade of paper-white that the roads in CT have right now with all of the salt...

I just picked up the paint.
Its this metallic silver. Its supposed to be this metallic grey in the dark, and when the sun hits it its super bright silver.

A tip for anyone who is looking to paint their car, go to a body shop and ask to buy some left over paint. Thats how i got this for so cheap. Its enough high quality paint to do a car, but it was less than $75! Down side is i didnt like the plain silver so i had them add some grey on the spot to darken it up.. so this is a one off color. If i need to repaint a fender and i dont have enough left over..im F'd.

Got a package in the mail today.

Rather than buy bigger brakes i decided to purchase some flashy (pun intended) discs and some high quality pads, fluid, and lines.

You might need to remove the windshield to get all the rust out. I've seen several subaru's with a rust on top like that. All probably cause by a blade thru the seal and over time the water gets underneath and rust it out.
I think you were asking about paint on rs25. That silver is nice. You might want to do a test panel first to see how your metallic arrange itself before doing something big. I would suggest painting the car panel by panel for better results but it may not match when you put them back together (different air pressure/the angle the mettalic sprayed/more or less coat on some areas). Is it single stage or base/clear? Is the color reduced already? Also what gun are you using?
Yeah alot of body/paint shop have excess premix paint (old inventory/mixed wrong or the customer never picked it up). I have alot of different base paint and I put them all together. Now I'm just looking for someone to see if they like it so I can spray it for them lol

Hey Flash, A thought on your tach issue. I know your running an AEM Ecu and remember you saying that you don't use the crank sensor. That could be your problem there possibly. Your tach should run off that signal iirc. Idk if you have that all unhooked or not.

Yea I have a buddy who is a good painter and we are going to use his stuff and he will be doing the spraying. I might rent a booth.. Might. It still needs to be reduced and its base coat clear coat.

As far as the tach is concerned, I Dont use the cam. The computer uses the crank to trigger and monitor the revolutions. The cam is just used as a sync. To help the computer know which revolution its on since the computer sees it as 720 degrees instead of 360. However I use wasted spark so I it doesn't matter on my engine if I Dont have the can to sync up.

I would like try the 2.3 liter destroker eventually. Is that what you are still running? I am trading up to a 3rd Gen Sedan and will be setting aside a swap budget this time around. Run it with a td-05 twin scroll JDM setup

Yea I really like my destroker. Technically its a 2.4 liter cuz its like 2365cc or something but I like saying its a 2.3 cuz it seems to confuse people. I highly recommend it. I think like it better than my sti 2.5L

Hey I was on YouTube and saw your video on the tach. I would try a potentiometer. I gonna make a suggestion from my music experience haha but the 50k pot you are using is a very narrow sweep and would make adjustments difficult because it's not precise enough. I would try a 250k or 500k pot and see if that makes a difference. They have a wide sweep so you can adjust more precisely and thats what they use on guitars.
