    Dead's 96 JDM GT-B SOLD! =(

So after losing a 3rd motor, I called it quits on "Hornet" the GT-B... She has been sold to another member and will be taken care of in a proper way...

By accident, ags18 found a JDM GT-B getting parted out up in Vancouver BC. He wanted to get parts, I decided I wanted the car! It was re-ended and pushed into a truck's trailer hitch. It had a messed up rear cover that I'm going to fix , but the front cover if toast! I'll run it till I can afford another JDM cover. Apparently when a car is totaled in Canada, they cant re-build them like we can in the states. Kinda sad... So up in Canada, it's only a parts car anyway so the former owners are excited to know that it's going to live on again.

112K kilometers comes out to about 69K miles on the Odometer.

    Exterior:
-OEM skirts from my USDM BD
    -Red L7 grill
    -eifle Prova(RFRB wing-Removed)
-Advan AVS Model 5 17x7's w/winter tires (now on the BD)
-OEM JDM GT-B wheels (in storage)
    -Motegi MR125 17x7's (current)
-factory projectors head lights and fogs Independently wired)

    Interior:
    -Extensive woodgrain kit
    -Pivot Turbo timer
-Greddy Boost and oil pressure gauge
-Factory Dog separator (Works pretty damn good!)
    -Kenwood head unit

    Motor/Trans: Rebuilt!
-EJ20R (fresh rebuild) And just blew up again...
    -440cc injectors (factory)
    -VF18 and VF19 turbo's (factory)
    -5 speed
    -Fujitsubo FGK Axle-back Exhaust
-Custom mid-pipe (no cat or resonator)
    -05 EJ257 Oil pan

I've got a write up of the zs controller install on clubsub.org.nz like 7 years ago now! But all you really need is the manual translation. Also, mines ecu... Do you want to blow the new motor up too? I hope you know someone that can tune it!

As for points on the zs controller, I found 4600 rpm cross to secondary was great, really killed vod in its tracks. Return point I made real low, 3000 I think? (again 7 years ago now!) The lower, the better, less chance of calling into vod on shift.

I talked to my motor builder about the parts I got and he reminded me of our fuel here in the states and I told him I already know.

I'm going to drive it with the stock setup for now, no mods other then what I already have. After I get some miles/kms on the new motor, I'm going to give it some 100 octane, run it for a bit and then install the ECU and controller and again, run it on 100 octane. I will more then likely not run it like this long, I just want to see what the really world difference is with the parts.

Also makes for a nice selling point to the next guy that wants to blow it up. haha

As for an update, I did get the motor just about completed tonight. All I have left to install is the exhaust manifold, a new line for the boost gauge, lower bellhousing nuts, motor mount nuts, oil and a filter and she's ready to fire!

She's pretty much done. Just oil and a filter and she's ready to start.

I did notice a problem with the front right wheel being damn near frozen, so I'm going to take a look at that later. Also both axles have split boots, so I'm going to install a couple front axle since it's in the air. Also going to switch out the 17" GT wheels for the set of OEM JDM GT-B 17" wheels I got a few months ago.

Since tonight is Arrow/Flash night (yes, the TV shows... haha) I'll be working on it tomorrow night.

She's alive! Runs pretty good for having year old 92 octane in it... LOL...Have only ran it for about 5 minutes in the shop, but everything seems to be in good shape.

I still have it on stands so I can install some new front axles, but it will be done and back on the road soon. I'm going to take it right to the station to get some fresh 92 and 100 octane then off to smog... She past last time and with a new motor, it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm thinking it might be time to take her to a SLI Puget Sound meet. Anyone down?

Once my car is ready I'll come out to that meet. I've wanted to meet all the 2nd gen Legacy owners in the area for quite a while.
My greatest feat with my car is the constant willingness to keep it on the road for no apparent reward.

First drive last night! Seems to be doing fine. Oil pressure seems low when she's warm, but I'll look into it.

I did figure out that my front right caliper is sticking really bad! As in like it's locked! That's gotta go! I got some fresh 92 oct in it, now I just need to find some 100/110 oct to mix it. Also need to get the axles swapped in. I didnt have time and I have some other work that needed to go in the shop.

We need to get a cruise together once you get that caliper & axle boots figured out. Did you put the GT-B wheels on yet?

Yamazakisubaru figured out the right mix and it's pretty much half 92 and half 100 octane.

Popped back to check up on things, this car's had quite the adventure! I like where this is going.
(I'm the original importer from Canada, for a refresher)

I've got another Subaru on the way now.. Found a bargain on a rare piece of history. I'll see about making a trip down for a surprise when it's clear and ready in the late spring. You'll want to see this one.

Thats for sure! First motor let go, then the 2nd one let go, then rebuilt the first one.. haha... She's up and running, but I have so little time these days.

That would be great if you could make it down! I'm going ot be planing a meet here in the next few months, it would be great if you could make it with what ever you are picking up.

Been driving her for a couple weeks now. So far I have had the down pipe nuts work lose, have an oil leak on the left side valve cover and maybe a leak on the right side as well... Easy stuff to fit, just need the time.

I do have an interesting development. My e-brake is barely working. As in, it needs to be in gear on even a slight hill. So I need to pull the real all apart and see what going on. Drives me crazy that I cant let the turbo timer do it's thing on a slight hill.

Also, the new wheels and tires are great! The tires hold WAY better then any of the others I have had! Makes for a lot of fun in the corners. I have missed my Subbie rumble, the digi HVAC, and the seats... oh the seats... sigh... I'm going to have a hard time letting her go.

Man, I still need to see this thing! Were you still planning on organizing a meet? I'm definitely excited to see all the local guys in person. And speaking of wheels and tires, what ever happened to those Advans that the GT-B came on? Those are some of my favorite wheels. Seems like she just doesn't want you to have your way sometimes haha

Yeah, I'll start a thread up for it here soon.

As for the AVS's, they are on my BD right now. I need to get some current pics, it actually looks really good with the OEM GT-B wheels.

Well, I fixed the e-brake last night. The shoes were coated with rust and so were the drums. The calipers and pads are in good shape though! It's nice to not worry if the stupid thing is gonna roll away. haha.

I do have a few little things to attend to under the hood. An exhaust leak, oil leak, and a couple crunchy vac lines. Just trying to make sure everything is in good order. I've been driving the daylights out of it the past few weeks and it's doing great! Now time to make a fuel mix that I can use my boost controller and ECU.

Yea I just did the front and rear pads and rotors and ebrake shoes. Nothing like a fresh ebrake!

Just tell people its not leaking oil, its just sweating power.

I have about 2000km's on the new moro and everything seems to be good! I do have a couple little exhaust leaks and also for some damn reason, my valve covers are leaking, so I need to take care of that.

I will be taking it in for the dyno here in a week or so. Just so much has been going on with my family and work, no time. I'm also going to try and get it all detailed and get a nice photo shoot of it here soon a well, maybe on dyno day.

I have got to the point that I do want to sell it, so if anyone is interested, let me know. I'm not actively advertizing it, but if someone had the cash, I would give her up for the right price. Drop me a PM if you are curious. Not that I want to, but it's time to move on to other cars. I also have my Volvo that really needs to be finished and thats been killing me that I have so many other projects going on.

I will be doing some new calipers also. The fronts have been having problems. Seem like H6 calipers are close to the same so I will more then likely be getting those.

Well, I took the GT-B for a drive on Mt Rainier (Chinook Pass) a couple weeks ago and here are some of the pics I took of her.

She's still running good and all, but still need to do a new set of valve cover gaskets. Oh, the sunroof needs some work. I looked my keys in and my girlfriend tried to crawl in and it didnt end well for the car. Still works, but one of the arms is bent so it has a hard time opening and shutting. =(

I also picked up a set of new wheels, but they need some work before painting. Hoping to have them done before WCSS. =)

It's JDM right? Too late now but you can open it without keys by lifting the door handle in a certain sequence you program.

Yeah that handle trick is awesome! BH5 had it, BLE has it too (5 digits in this case though).

With the proper wheels it looks oddly familiar.....you are really making me miss being able to drive mine. Looking good dude!

Man, I love when the light hits just right and accents the body lines over the wheel arches.
