03 JDM BL5 Legacy GT Lowering

I have some lowering springs for my new 03 Jap import BL5 Legacy SpecB so it has the bilsteins does any one know if the rear strut top hats have a different OD to the bilsteins, the top of the springs dont seem to sit correctly in the top hats, also notice the lowering springs are slightly tapered from the bottom up where as the factory springs remain the same diameter, Cheers

Which springs are you trying to install? There are lots and lots of lowering springs out there, and there are a number of fitments.

Its a brand called JAMEX, the guy assures me they fit my model and says hes sold hundreds of sets and im the first one to say they dont work. Just wondering if it is because mines a Bilstein, I can actually bolt the in to the strut but the top coil protudes slightly off the side of the rubber seat and its not securely seated in the rubber, The factory one i pretty much has to be levered onto the rubber as its a nice tight fit

The top hats are the same between Bilstein and non-Bilstein cars during that generation. I looked up the STI lowering springs for the BP/BL, and they look to be tapered too, so the stock springs are likely tapered as well?

Stock spring may be slightly tapered I guess. Definitely not as much as the ones I've got. The guy says the wider part should be at the bottom but it seems to fit better the other way with the tighter wound coiLs at the front

the rear springs should be a standard 3 inch, top and bottom, the tighter coils generally go on the bottom.
your first pic shows that the spring is not flat at one end, is this just optical illusion or is it really not flat. On the rear top hat do you still have the rubber seat it should go between the spring and the mount? Your second pic shows normal springs i do not see anything off about them.

Those springs might be meant for the KYB style top hat.

Just an illusion same spring in both pics. I'll measure them up but one end is definitely bigger than the other. Looking like they are wrong . Just confused as the supplier reckons they have never had a issue before. Yes the top mount is fitted
