Second Gen Legacy Speedometer Plug Pinout

I am trying to correct my speedo read out since getting bigger tyres (it's reads 11% less than actual speed now) using SpeedoHealer or SpeedoDRD. My question is on the i11 plug that goes to the speedo what is the pin arrangement? From what I understand 2 and 3 are from the vehicle speed sensor 2 and by process of elimination 1 goes to Cruise Control. Is that correct? That's as far as I got with the service manual.

Is pin 2 or 3 the signal pin? And what's the other pin? I am guessing it's +12V but it seems weird to run that all the way from the speed sensor to the speedo.

If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!


Edit: Did some more digging and I guess it's an A/C sensor so both pins 2 and 3 are the signal pins. :tard: Does this make this an inductive type sensor?

The second gen speedometer is an induction type. The circuit board on the backside of the speedometer gauge itself converts to it to a pulse. That pulse is sent back to the ECU (and TCU) on A10.

I do not know if either of those two can do inductive/hall effect type VSSes. The Dakota Digital SGI-5 can, and it is cheaper than the "SpeedoHealer v4".

95-97 are induction type. 98-99 are single wire. The Outback speedo board will not change his speed reading. On second gens, the speedo gear in the transmission is what changes for different tire size. I agree, an SGI-5 will be the best option.

Ah, I have never worked on a 98/99 car. From his previous post, he has a 95, so it would still be inductive.

Dang, didn't really expect any responses, so thank you rkrenicki and Alphius. There is a version of the SpeedoHealer that will work with the inductive type but as you pointed out the SGI-5 is cheaper. I am a bit confused about the SGI-5 though because it requires a signal in, a ground, and/or power input. How would I connect it since both speed sensor wires are technically signal leads?
