The window washer switch isn't working on the steering column combo switch so I was just going to replace with a push button on the dash. In the wiring diagram, the wire colors for the washer switch are listed as "W" and "EW". The "W" is obviously white, but what is the "EW"? The Subaru wiring diagram doesn't list that color at all.
What year and model of car is this? EDIT: Nevermind, I see you posted something about a 1996 legacy before.
I looked up the FSM, and "W" and "EW" do not refer to wire colors, but "Washer" and "Earth-Washer" aka, Washer ground. Those are wires that lead to the circuit board on the inside of the stalk module, which is not a "field serviceable part", so the FSM does not need to detail it.
In looking at the service manual, it appears that pins 5 (LiteGreen/Red) and 6 (White/Blue) control the front washer circuit.

it will, the only part you are probably missing by installing a pushbutton is the 5 second wiper function afterwards.
you have 1 or 2 pumps(wagon=2) in the tank, just supply them with 12v somehow and you're good. Sounds like you're on the right path
True. But just to push a button on the dash to trigger the washer motor and doing the wipers manually isn't a big deal.
