Thread: Dead fourm? Resurrection...

  1. #31
Here in NEPA I've never seen a 1st gen Legacy on the street, but when I went to Boxerfest there were 6-7 of them scattered around the show area and the parking lot lmao, I think 4 were turbos. I also feel like I'm starting to see less 3rd gen Legacies than 2nd gen Legacies. 4th gen and up Legacies are still common though

Yea, even in the scrap yard, I rarely see first gens, usually there are two or three 2nd gens, and lots of 3rd and pre-facelift 4th gens...
No, no ,no I'm not insulting you, I'm describing you!

I've seen the occasional third-gen out and about. Strangely enough, I haven't seen a single third-gen Outback wagon.

i see a 3rd gen every time i step out the door! agreed though i havent seen a 1st gen in ages. I do see quite a bit of the 2nd gen wagons. cant recall the last time i saw a 2nd gen sedan. most of the 3rds i see on the street are beat down 4cyl outbacks.

I don't miss my 2003 outback (though, on the subaruoutback forum-it's a second gen-because there was no outback model based on the greatest generation of legacys- even though it's on the third gen legacy platform,

I've seen (through friends Facebook accounts) the sli site and other car groups can't hold a candle to online forums-i.e- easier to navigate and find information

Hey not dead forum! Quick question - is anyone interested in my 2000 Legacy GT 5MT sedan for parts? It hasn't been started in quite some time and the last time, a brake line had rusted out in the back somewhere and spilled out all the fluid so it would be a trailer kind of sale.

Partial list of parts worth saving - JDM Bilstein struts and springs, Sedan JDM tail light and Legacy garnish, Cobb EL header through bad CAT section, Perrin Lightweight pully, Delicious Stage 1 (or 2, I can't remember) flashed ECM for the EJ251, not the EJ252 that comes in the 2000 5MT (I swapped a whole bunch of parts, cam pulleys, sensors, intake manifold, and added a wiring harness to make the 252 into a 251), Delta 1500 cams, manifold spacers, A spare 5MT that might not be all that good, a spare rear differential with parts to rebuild it, A remanufactured 2004 STi steering rack still in the box as the steering knuckle mismatch was more than I wanted to tackle, Whiteline rear diff bushings still in box, Whiteline Tierods and Anti-Lift Kit still in box, that might be it.

I moved on to Subaru cars that I don't wrench on, 2020 Impreza, 2023 Ascent so I am still in the family. Would love to get my hands on a newer than 2000 MT Subaru as I miss driving this one but they are getting hard to find if I don't need the WRX flash at this point in my life. If I could find a good 3rd Gen sedan or Outback Sedan but we are getting into the classic car age now and most have found their way off the road.

Anyway, long post to kick the forum. If there is any interest left I could get around to posting a classified with proper pictures. I don't even have a number I would be looking for yet.

I can't believe I timed out while writing this post.

1997 Legacy L sedan 2.2 auto - crushed by a tree during Sandy
All upgrades stripped and returned to stock, started up when they hauled it away

New to me 2000 Legacy GT Limited sedan 5 speed 180K miles
184K and running on a JDM Bilstein struts and springs set and a replacement RS 5MT
187K, engine top half rebuilt, Delta 1500 cams, PNP, converted EJ252 to EJ251 for Delicious Stage 1 flash
190K worked out some engine issues with the swap, now Cobb EL headers and High Flow Cat and mid pipe, muffler shop axle back
