Oh and with historic tags you don't need inspection or emissions. And yes, my friend daily drives his truck with historic tags.

That is not cool then. Here is an excerpt from the historic tags registration form:

I/We certify under oath that the vehicle will only be maintained for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses. I/We further certify that this vehicle will not be used for general daily transportation or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways

It goes on to say that it requires show-car type insurance, etc, etc. I cannot meet those requirements under oath, so I will not do it. It attracts enough attention as it is, I do not want to push my potential luck in case I ever get pulled over by police for the hell of it (like I was in the S401).
