I dread body work SO, SO MUCH that I'd been putting off doing a little sanding and painting on my hood for quite some time. I gave in today, in the most half-assed way possible. I didn't even wash the hood, just took out the color spay can and held a piece of paper to mask it for two quick passes over the scratches and rust. Whatever, looks better. If you know anyone near southern NH who can do body work, let me know, go knows I'm not even gonna touch the rear fender rust.

front CVs, pads all the way around, and rotors all the way around. (rotors arnt in the picture)
so auto zone has the wrong part number for my front pads? i had to get ones from a 2005 legacy. but hey, there the same lol
i greased all the slide pins up front, but the breaks are still getting really hot. i was told its normal for them to smoke for the first few minutes?
and it sounds like a dust shield is rubbing against my rotor.. or mayb its one of the clips on the brake pad... :smt013

All lights are wired in pairs to one lead that goes to the battery. Thens theres a relay that flips them on in reverse and a switch that turns them on inside along with a override for the reverse relay so I can ride incognito if I need to
Just had to buy a new tire... I got a nice 1/4 slice right in the middle of the tread... They said they couldnt fix it, but they had a used one for $25... I'm not ready to spend $450 on new tires yet...
Hope the used tire had about the same tread left as your other 3 tires - Subarus don't like having mismatched tires.
For me, today I was all ready to remove my almost new alternator and figure out why the tensioner bolt broke again, only to find that it seems that all it did was back itself out? Cranked it down pretty tight this time, and replaced the belt while I was at it since it got all messed up...

One of my tyres developed a tear in the sidewall, so I had to replace all 4. They were different brands anyway. I got a used set of Michelin MXV4s for cheap with a nice tread on them. Only problem is they are 205/65R15s, so the lift I am doing this weekend will be slightly diminished. Oh well, means I gotta save to find a nice set of Outback or Forester 16's to get some nice rubber on.

While I had time, I took a little time to investigate my reverse lights more because I am beginning to doubt that my inhibitor switch is responsible for them not working. I realized that they were both SUPER DIM?!?!?!? When I took one out... the other one got maybe 2-3 times brighter... It didnt matter which bulb or which side I had in. With one bulb in, it was brighter than if I had both in.
I am not sure if this is a grounding issue or if I just need new bulbs but at least I am not looking at a new inhibitor switch. I am going to clean up my grounds tonight and see what happens.

well..yesterday the wife decides she wants to do her own front pads and rotors, got them done after much squirming from me, cause i was watching and she was doing things the hard way...
today she says she had a chunka-chunka-chunka sound from the drivers front wheel, pull it apart to find she hadnt checked and lubed the slides and one had bound up and was rubbing the thicker pads.
removed the caliper slide and couldnt budge the slide, messed around for an hour or so, got fed up and pulled one off the white 99gt wagon in the back yard... all fixed, tho it seems the pads still rub on the rotor, not alot at all, but just enough to irritate me..thats what i get for cheap pads..
moral of the story i guess is its always quicker to do your own brakes, but if you do, then your damned by your woman cause you dont think she can....or something...
am i the only guy with that problem?
and also, i wasnt happy about pulling the one off the white wagon, i dont want it getting to parts car status....still waiting for cam bolts.

Nice, always good to have a spare. Good deal too.
Went for a little drive last night with a friend trying to explain good shift technique and how we need shittier cars because Subarus go way too fast to be practical back road fun. I need something I can't double the speed limit with in the corners, not that I do, but I could. Scary.

Yeah, so I forgot to put the axle nut back on to drive to Pull a Part. I get on the freeway and lose about 90% of brakes! horrible grinding noises, etc. I limp home using back roads to discover my mistake. The rotor jiggled around and was getting eaten up by the caliper bracket every time it moved. Made it home and discovered that my wheel bearing was destroyed as well due to the excess movement. Not really a problem since I got a hub in good shape, but I'm so glad I didn't cause an accident in the process.

Other cars: Diagnosed three codes on my brother's gf's '97 Ford Aspire, an o2, cat, and misfire code being caused by a badly leaking exhaust gasket and terrible cap and rotor (whatever those are, god I love Subaru). Replaced the front engine mount on my brother's '03 Civic, which went mercifully well. All I had to use was a breaker bar then fingers for everything, lovely.

check your local dealer too, they include cutting the key with their price usually, which can be cheaper than ordering online then paying someone local to cut it...some shops have trouble cutting the key too because of the metal alloy they use (titanium? I don't know  )

Lol, I just had today off. I work all day tomrrow but am asking off for the meet on the 30th. They really liked my legacy which was surprising for a bunch of NASIOCer's
My headlights came out ok, not great. Looks like I will be sanding them in the next few weeks. Might have found a place to weld up my exhaust for about 300 so I might get it done by the end of the month

Stripped my winter wheels and prepped them for new paint. New color this winter.
Should really change coolant on both cars for the winter.
And I think I just bought a garage, with a house thrown in. :D
Congrats to ya! I am right behind you (far behind) on buying a house. I hope next year I have one, but we will see.
So were you sick of the black/Slimmer (ghostbusters) green?
Now I see why you have not been around as much!
And I think I just bought a garage, with a house thrown in. :D
Sounds like your first "MOD" is done. :smt023
Lol
Still waiting on response from the house seller, there's a few sticking points because we're on an FHA loan and special one at that because I have so little credit usage that the credit bureaus cannot generate a credit score for us! Funnily, it means I fall into the category of the most wealthy Americans - multi-billionaires because they don't buy things with credit cards, they write a check. But I'm hopeful that we get it - it'll be a great place for our kids to grow up and for us to get old in. Plus, the garage is excellent shape. There's even room to expand it. It'll be nice to have a place to house the cars instead of being outside in the elements. It's 12 years old, it should get more love.
And I was kind of sick of the green/black combo - it just wasnt bright enough. When I get done with the new paint job you'll see what I mean. And everyone is doing lime green now, including Ken Block (tm).

Seafoamed the car again. (PCV valve) Last time I was a chicken shit and only let it sit for about 10 minutes.
This time I let it sit for 70 minutes... WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! Tons of smoke!!!
The car feels MUCH more responsive especially at hiway speeds with the AC on. Going from 65 mph to 85mph was much quicker. The car over all feels lighter and more peppy.
I also changed my oil with AMSOIL 5w-30 and an EAO20 filter, along with a new crush washer.

i never said brembos.. FHI 4-pots or 06+ wrx 4-pots. They are the same.. Brembo 4-pots wont clear those rims.. shit not even the 2 pot brembo rears clear those rims. The GC rims are 16x7 so you can clear the STi Version * FHI black/red 4-pots. WRX rims are 16x6.5 so they will not clear. You need at least 17x8 to clear brembos.
