^^ I want my eyeballs to not have read that.

My poor car is being driven 2hrs a day now... on a stupid commute. It needs a wash really bad, but the office driveway is asphalt till the house, then it's gravel. Stupid.
Working 14hr days too, same pay. What a joke!

Yeah... TMI dude... lol

That commute would suck! Even more if you didnt do it before with the same pay...

So Roger, you're basically just working & sleeping? Ouch.

That would explain why you haven't been around much.

^^ that's it in a nutshell... I'm hoping stuff will calm down enough to actually do this decal run.
Life is tough with a long commute+long hours+pregnant wife+toddler+house+yard to worry about, but at least I'm sucking wind, and surviving. The CEL in my car mysteriously turned off, so I know God is watching out for me!

I don't know why I put them on now out of all times(just got done buying alot of crap so im broke). I mean I want to drive my car all the time!! I been taking the long ways to work just to listen to her and drive her with the new suspension goodies. If I havent already I might marry my car. Now the hard part telling my girlfriend that im going to marry the car lol.

Yesterday, I put the GT leather stitched shift knob on in place of the stock rubber one. I expected it to grip better, but I couldn't believe the weight difference! The heavier GT knob makes such a difference for positive shifter feel.

Sold my Olympus 45mm/1.8 lens so I could buy stuff for the scoob... just waiting for the money to clear into my account, then I'll be able to get some stuff done.

Cleaned up the combustion chambers and filled the ports with liquid to see if the valves leak... half the valves leak like a ****ing sieve. 7 out of 8 on one head, one on the other. I might buy another pair or heads, or I'll bite the bullet and have the heads rebuilt with 16 new valves. Right now I'm killing time on SL-i while the high temp primer dries on the intake manifold I bought from bookem. Looking pretty good so far.

It was leaking at the gas station when I was filling up. When I got home I shut it down, walked around back, and took the video. Still haven't found my backup card reader and the one on the laptop stopped recognizing when a card gets inserted (tried another card too to make sure, and it worked at one point).

Hmm, so I went to the grocery store today and "used" my newly plastidipped tailgate bar and the I noticed it really showed where I was touching the plastidip, it was white like it was collecting dead skin cells. I was like, oh that's weird and tried to brush off the white marks and then also quite easily took off the plastidip as well! It's like it didn't hold together at all. I guess I didn't paint it on well, or I didn't get enough on there? I thought you could handle things painted with plastidip harshly because it's all supposed to peel off in one piece. idk probably my poor painting skills.

Looks like I'll have more repainting to do this week. I'll take pics at that time.

Today I... uh... ok, I did nothing to my car. I'm 100% out of funds after buying a clutch from Reason and ordering my gaskets.

I painted my block the other day and the oil pan is in primer. I thought about buying a new pan from rockauto for $40, but mine was in decent shape. No dents, minimal surface rust that cleaned up easily with naval jelly. I need to blast a few brackets, grab a coolant crossover pipe, and get those painted. Then I can focus on trivial little boring things... like replacing bent valves and resurfacing the heads

Now that bar matches the black back bumper protector, much more fun to be had with this.

and a little demo for those on the fence of using this

I used this test piece of glass to see how the paint peeled away (so my car wasnt the test)

ignore the overspray as I didnt paper cover the glass, I just used painters tape to define the lines for the pics. The glass is clean, clear and perfect under the area I peeled away

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/5246/p5010286.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/151/p5010286.jpg/)

http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/544/p5010287.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/832/p5010287.jpg/)

http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/677/p5010289.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/811/p5010289.jpg/)

I can easily get that overspray off in a min with very little effort too, just by rubbing my my hand over it the friction will take it off.

I have been dealing with a wobble in the steering wheel with a groan from the right front wheel that got worse with turning at high speed...all indications pointed toward my axle, which I knew was bad. I ordered a new axle and spend the day yesterday putting that in. After that, I tried to install my new exhaust that has been sitting around. My current exhaust is such a hack job that I couldn't do it though. I did manage to muscle my speedy racer borla reps into place though, only to realized they touch the oil pan. I said to hell with it and went on a drive to make sure my wobble was fixed, and, of course, it's not. Rotated tires and that still didn't fix it. Now I'm looking toward wheel bearings or tie rods, so I said screw it and I'm going to order wheel bearings, bearing seals, inner and outer tire rods, and ball joints. It's gonna take a while though, as I am working almost the next two weeks straight for beach money, and then I'll be on vacation for a week. Thankfully, I have the truck. [/rant]

Changed the oil today and swapped out my borla rep header for stock because I was getting tired of rewrapping it every year or 2 to keep the "sewing machine" sound away. Haven't been on for a while. I washed, waxed and parked my car on Saturday. Then Sunday I flew in to Los Angeles and drove a Camry up to Oxnard, CA for school. I fly back to Japan this coming Saturday. I tell you what, it has been a pain in the ass getting used to driving on the right side of the road again. I keep turning on my wipers instead of my turn signals and I try to get into the wrong side of the car. I know that as soon as I get used to it, I will be flying out of here.

Got oil changed and put my stock exhaust manifold back on, took off the UEL header. Blasphemy! I know, I know... My car still rumbles just as it did before, in fact, even more than it did! oh wait, I have an exhaust leak. I does still sound good coming out of the muffler but when I accelerate quickly I can hear what can only be described as a ticking sound. Happening right after an oil change, I thought maybe I didn't put enough oil in which is not the case. Now that I think about it, the flange on the stock manifold that connects to the cat might be a little too old to reuse. Idk, it's easy to remove the bolts there now so I might put the UEL header back on just for fun without heat wrap to see if that fixes anything or to see if I can handle the awesome "sewing machine" noise.

My auto transmission is acting funny every great once in a while.

Also, I got 27mpg on my last tank of gas! It's never been that high before!!

I got some on my borla header its alright but I never tried the regular stuff. You still get more valve train noise then with the stock y-pipe. I just need a cat back to take advantage of the UEL pipes cause everything else is stock now.

I might get those for next summer. I'm leaning toward Husky Liner mats right now since rubber mats are easier to clean and these provide better coverage of the carpet. Good for winter, and all the crap I track in from my gravel driveway.

We got Weathertech mats last year and they've been pretty good. Not exactly cheap, but like you say, rubber mats are nice protection from the elements. The company makes a big deal about how each one is custom fit for your exact model, but they neglected to make an allowance for the fuel cap release lever on the floor of the driver's side of the Legacy mats. They overall driver's side fit would also be better if they were slightly narrower. FWIW.

Edit: A bit dirty, but they are doing their job.

^This SUS has the Husky Liner mats, and I really like how they extend up the sides. Looks like they fit really well. Plus...they have "husky" in the name. That's totally a sign that I should spend the $65 to get them for the Baller Husky Hauler.

Today I took my car to have lunch with my dad, and I may have talked him into giving his wife his Focus, then getting himself an impreza 2.0i or Legacy.

Got my header wrapped and put back on today. And no more exhaust leak! I used the titanium wrap this time so we'll see if this lasts longer than the other stuff.

Got 90% ready to roll out the garage with my car and my clutch locks up solid.

So I pulled the engine and took the pressure plate off and the clutch disk just clung to the flywheel. I had to use a screwdriver to pop the disk off the flywheel.

tomorrow the adjustable idlers will go in and I'll drop the engine back into the car.

Decided to finally start prep work for a projector retro in USDM housings.

And hauled 2 refrigerators, a set of shelves, 1 computer and a propane tank in it.

EDIT:

My clutch slave cylinder ($35 shipped) and brake caliper speed bleeders ($28 shipped) came in today as well.

Got a free pen from OAKOS and some decals, and magnet from Rockauto.com. Yay for free swag!

I de-glued the passenger side front window (peeled the tint a while ago and was too lazy to de-glue at the time. While I had it apart I covered the stupid fake wood with some 3m carbonfiber vinyl. I'm not sure I like it, but I know it's WAY better than the stupid fake wood.

Pardon the pic, apparently my phones camera is jacked up and doesn't focus anymore...

Tried to install my wrx ebrake handle and realised one of the mounting holes needed a little elongating. Well apparently its made from diamond because I could not cut the steel. I'm going to just make a long slot with the angle grinder. Hopefully it won't be to weak after the fact.

Bought a spray can of plasti-dip to restore my cracked/flaking trim, then used it on my grille instead. Perhaps tomorrow I'll use it for its intended purpose... maybe.

I also stopped at Don Miller Subaru and grabbed a coffee mug and cylinder head plug. It was funny watching all the salesmen's eyes light up as I pulled up, then the look of disappointment when I walk toward the parts department door instead. They were all standing by the glass inside since it was pouring rain.

Roger, you've been driving this long without a ticket, so definately go to court and request the court's leniency. I would site the fact that you have never had a speeding ticket and ask for a reduction, or offer to take an aggressive driving course in place of the points. This worked for me when a Charleston traffic cop nailed me at 90 in a 60.

Definitely fight it! Or at least mitigate for sure! When I got my first one at 17 y/o, I got my 75+ in a 60 that was $175 reduced to $90, so it's worth it. Most of the time for the bigger tickets I used to get a lawyer, but then again I did used to street race...

So, I haven't been able to get online to report, but the timeline went a little like this:
Thursday: Blew top radiator hose off radiator about a mile from home, lost pretty much all coolant. Stole replacement clamp from my derelict Neon, filled up with water, limped my way across town and back to take care of a friend's dogs, praying the whole way, as temp gauge started climbing every time I hit the gas. (I have been told this was most likely due to an air bubble, and is common in Subarus. *shrug*)
Friday: Borrowed a friend's '96 Legacy wagon, in case I need a ride during maintainance time on my car. (the car I borrowed is the car that made me fall in love with Legacies) Put car up on ramps to drain radiator of water, and flush it because, DAMN, it was grody in there. hose radiator out, put all the hoses back on and fill radiator with coolant. And the car won't start. at all. no dash lights, no nothing, no juice at all. So I fiddle around with my mouse-gnawed wiring, and nothing happens. I jump the car with the borrowed Legacy, and it starts fine. pull the cables, and my car dies instantly. I start fearing a bad alternator. Landlord/mechanic shows up, grabs diagnostic tool, determines that battery is dead. I take battery from the Neon, and try to take battery out of Legacy. I forgot to turn the ignition off, though. >.< But I didn't get zapped, and while fighting the + terminal clamp, the headlights come on. Scratching my head I hesitantly inquire, "Uh, couls a really corroded terminal mimic a dead battery?"
So, I clean the terminal, and the car fired up, no problem. YAAAY!

Yeah. Shooting for some 18x12's but I may end up having to go with 18x10 due to the turning.. Not sure yet. The color is called "Shimmrin' Glaxay Gray" made by House of Kolor. I also added some holographic golf flake in the clear coat but it's hard to tell with these crappy pictures.

I sure hope so!

Yup. Still needs a bit of buffing/polishing. Otherwise, everything is already cut and working fine. No problems at all! Well, besides the fact I scrape the front end on EVERYTHING... But, this isn't going to be my daily for long. Still have my sedan to work on...

 18x12 would be epic. It already looks super sweet can't wait until you get the rims on it.

And here is my decal placement, not exactly as I wanted it but as I was lining it up I accidentally touched the decal to the glass so that is where it ended up :smt021 Still looks alright, and the best part is it matches my rims well.

Yup. It feels/drives fantastically well for its miles. Makes my 224,000 mile car feel like a bucket of junk, frankly.

Cool! There is even a difference in driving a 95 and 99 Legacy, but I know how those drive and they are MUCH different.

This. On a black car with tinted tails? You can't lose.

The green looks beast.

ya i'm planning on tint in the near future. In MI you can have any tint on the rear windows and no tint on the front windows so I don't know exactly how i'm going to do it right now, I will probably put some tint on the front windows but not too dark, like 50% and then 35% or 20% on the rear windows.

50% fronts, 20% rears, 35% rear windshield for vision at night. Baller!

I've been wanting to do this for weeks, I love the look that the blacked out portion of the bumper gives. I saw it on tons of other cars and figured it was worth seeing how it looked on my car.

No Joke, there was 30 hummers and 30 APC's and the convoy streched for km's. I said to my wife I didnt think we had so many just lying around at home, watched the news that night and turns out they were american.

Everyone moved over, slowed down and gave these guys the room they deserve. I got a few thumbs up from guys in the hummers and guys standing on the APC's.

One guy on an APC blew his massive fog/air horn when I gave him the thumbs up. I certainly wasnt expecting it and boy was it loud

man those things are cool and DAMN those hummers were Jacked! so much clearance and the components u could see underneath looked like they could drive over a bomb np

I just did every window but the windshield in 15% a couple weeks ago.

far from legal but mad baller.

as for vision, never needed glasses and I've been told my eyes could give some eagles a run for their money
the only drawback is they are very sensitive to sunlight, a HAVE to have sunglass or im super squinty. Im fine indoors, its only natural sunlight
so the dark tints perfect...till i get pulled over :)

no problems at night over here
