Fixed the heatshield rattle and installed my speakers.I fixed my heatshield rattle as well. Exhaust leaks are all taken care of too. I had Keaton put on my UEL header + new bolts + gaskets, and he welded in a patch where a hanger busted off and cracked the pipe. Installed my shifter center return spring as well.

Check the SL-i facebook group for a video of some delicious EJ25D + open UEL header. Sounded mean as hell.
If you're not on FB, I will eventually get around to posting it in my members rides thread.

Got my 144K km service done today. Cleaned injectors, cleaned air conduits, oïl change, all filters change, AT fluid change, fluid adjustents, lights adjustments (following my accident in January), greased, arranged heat shield issues, etc.

Basically she's back to normal. Now need to set her up for this summer: LGT05 suspension from Florida with H&R springs for a nice drop, Hella Supertones back in, HID main and fogs back in, front lip back on, new tires (Falken 453) and put my 18" rims back on. Can't wait :) Come on Guig'z I need my parts :)

Cheers

98legwag
05-04-2013, 06:43 PM
Nope. After watching Rubie_25GT have a lot of issues with his HIDS I decided not to go that route. I know my JDM headlights had Phillips Diamond Visions in the lows and Osram Nightbreakers in the highs when I got them. They are enough for me. I didn't even look at what is in the JDM fogs right now.

The hardest thing I've ever done on a car is cutting a releif into my bumper support with a 4.6v Dremel. I mean, maybe 8 linear inches and it's taken me almost a week. Five minutes of cutting and the battery is wiped out. Then I've gotta wait a good 5-6 hours for a full charge.

But one side is done. My GT bumper is almost able to be installed.

I bought these skirts for $10 ages ago... spent 5 times as much buying 14 new OEM clips and hardware for the bottom, lol.

Installation isn't bad once you remove the stupid front mudflaps. We put ink (stamp ink) on the side skirt, lined it up, then tapped it against the rocker to mark it. Marked the spots for the holes with a paint pen, then drilled. After painting the holes, we clipped the skirts in and drilled the bottom holes. Paint, install the hardware of your choice for the bottom... then step back and behold your new side skirts.

Not today, but over the weekend:

Pulled the center console out and gave it a good cleaning. (16 years of funky grossness. BLECH.) :pukeleft:
Replaced the factory cassette played with a new stereo with an El Cheapo JVC.
Replaced the three tiny little bulbs behind the HVAC. Because I like to see my controls, ya know?

Only had one screw left over when I put it all back together.

Next weekend: Possibly Brakes, replacing busted fog lamp...
And getting pictures of my work this time!

Nope. I don't think so. It's one of the longer screws. Both of the smaller ash tray ones that go up at an angle are back in place, and the long one in the back I never fully removed.

I didn't document anything as I went through. Really, the only way to find out is take it back apart piece by piece and look at the manual... (I think I'd rather have a leftover screw.)

This weekend I finally took all the junk out of my 97 as it was serving as a storage unit for a few months. Then I strapped my full size spare (old all terrain) back on my roof so I could put stuff in the wheel well. This action reminded me that I emasculated my good friend by ditching the Geolanders. He's like a temporarily de-clawed cat.

You can only see half the vw's in that picture haha.

I used the cheapest basecoat local to me(limco supreme) and i experimented with some older Transtar clear that i've had for a very long time.

Came out pretty decent. I didnt fix any of the chips/imperfections in it. I just scuffed it - adhesion promoter - 3 coats of base - 2 heavy coats of clear.

I couldn't decide if i should've painted the entire thing green or leave the center black. im glad i left it black.

Aaahh, yes. So multi-owner mods. difficult to track that way ;)
A VIN check at a dealer should be able to tell you trim line, I'd imagine. . .

gen 1 OB struts (either your legacy or the OB springs)

^Right, I don't either. But remember you need to get longer studs for the top hats for a spacer that big. Otherwise it'll work just fine.

So I have a new hood. This new one has much less dents, a few more scratches, much more black and has a scoop.

Now seeing this car in this condition really hurts my feeling because I had it since it had 212k and sold it at 250k. So I have some serious history with her. In the pics don't do justice. The pass corner light is busted and has clear tape attached to the headlights to prevent falling out. The fogs are completely destroyed and gone. All four struts are gone completely I rocked the car and almost flipped it no bullshit. The nice radio that was in it disappeared. The shift boot destroyed. Tires in front about 50% treads and rears pretty much amateur slicks. The rear bumper driver side smashed in and the exhaust broken in 3 diff spots and barely hanging on by a thread. Engine sounds like a 2 stroke diesel. U have no clue how bad I wanted to kill this kid. I wanted to throw a grenade in the car to put it out of its misery. But I'll tell u what the engine still hasn't exploded so kudos to the 2.2 bullet proof engine lol. I loved this car so much and to see it in this condition is like seeing UR mom all healthy and in a few months withering away from meth. Very sad day.

^ is that wbm??

So this technically isn't my car anymore since I sold it to a friend and I kinda wish now I sold it to some one else further away. So here's what I took pix of my (old) car todayMadison Subaru Meet. I would have told you guys if I was making the 17 hour drive out to WBM, lol.

Sucks about the car... I had to watch my 1987 Toyota Cressida go from a clean rust free car to a rusty beater with a dying engine and trans after I sold it. :smt010

When I got to my car this morning I realized the rear driver's side window wasn't all the way up. It rained last night....and there is a chance of rain the next 4 days.

since its just a spacer that gets sandwiched in there, i really don't see the need for it but i could thread it.
I just wanted you to know about the "real" lift, not dogin you or anything, I think its cool that you are DIYing it:) the threads on mine piss me off, when you go to tighten the bolts to the shock tower the threads loosen on the lift blocks and you cant tighten them unless you take them off, i learned that i need thread lock the hard way LOL. also i have seen the same material used to space a truck bed and they needed to be tightened about every couple months because they wore down with serious offroading shaking the bed back and forth.

I'll use some nyloc nuts when i assemble it but i'll definately check them once in awhile. Thanks.

Went to the 7th Annual Madison Subaru Meet, which was amazing. I left right before trophies, and when I got home I had a dozen texts telling me I got 2nd highest mileage  I only have 222k, so I was pretty surprised... thought there would be a bunch over 250k there.
awesome :) how was it? I couldn't make it. Tight month with money.

Found an STi strut bar, Zerosports intake pipe and cooling panel, and a Tommy Kaira grill at a junkyard today, all for $60 bucks.

after work I took off my back RA flaps and drilled holes to make them extend further out from the car.
They were crooked before and I wanted a more aggressive look thats achieved with them being further off the body.
Done and happy.

Runs & drives.

Hill hold? I didn't know these cars had that.

I've only seen hill holds on cable clutch trans (2nd gens). Mostlikely 2.2 cause majority of 2.5's are hydraulic clutch

In '03 they brought back the hill holder - it was a cable that attached independently to the clutch pedal and had an actuator hooked up to the brake lines - completely separate from the hydro clutch assembly.

I think they got rid of it again on newer models, not exactly sure why.
