Fixed my positive battery terminal (it had a tendency to simply not work), did a custom re-core of my locks for my roof rack, used that white wax stuff on the front end (looks goooood), quik waxed the whole shabang after a wash, re-aimed my headlights to better suit the crazy bright 4300ks from the retrofitsource, and tried to figure out where to take my car to get an inspection sticker.

Today I got pissed off at my JDM projectors, because the lenses are crazed and I can't do anything about it. I'm going to cut my losses, clean them up a bit, convert the beam pattern, reassemble, and move on to plan B. I'm just going to do a retrofit in some USDM two piece lights and sell my JDM lights later on. Or maybe I'll make a male mold from the JDM lens and form a new clear lens... time will tell.
If someone has a set of two piece USDM lights and corners, sell 'em to me cheap and I'll love you forever.

Mmmm... Beats the crap out of my stock one. Now I just need a drill to install my Boston sx60 component speakers in the front doors.
Bostons installed. Well, half of them, I need to drill holes in the tweeter mounts so the wiring can fit through.
Drill holes for the wiring? I used factory tweeter pods for my Boston SE 60 tweeters without any modification at all--the wires just sneak down between the tweeter pod and the door panel totally hidden from view. Just a piece of 3m adhesive pad on the back to make sure everything stayed together right. Been running that setup for 2 years without any issues.
As for what I've done with my car today I looked at it, sitting there in the garage for the Summer, thinking I could supercharge my Mustang for less money than what the new engine for my PoS is costing me...

Damnit! I thought you knew some secret about how to fix the ujoint without having to get an entire driveshaft.
Regardless, my cheap ass now has to hunt down a driveshaft for less than what Subaru wants for one brand new (about $800). Also, it might be just because there is no driveshaft but my shifter is out of place. First gear is now right about where 3rd is and I don't even think there is enough wiggle room to properly select reverse. I hope that everything will go back into alignment when the driveshaft is installed and that nothing is really really messed up.

Sounds like u need a shifter link bushing. I had severe sloppy shifting in my BK. Also looks like u need some u-joints nt the whole driveshaft. Check ur nearest parts stores for u joints. Obviously it's only 2 which should be the same and are the transfer case an rear diff ujoints. And u joints aren't that much money either. I believe moog's are around 20$ and drive works are around 10-15$

if you're on USMB or dirtyimpreza, look up i5racer he had a BD that's being parted out and probly has a driveshaft.
About the shifter out of place: the arm is upside-down. I've done this a couple of times :smt011
You'll just need to pull the console and boot (unscrew the knob from the shaft), then pull the bolt that mounts the lever arm to the selector stub from the transmission. Then just spin the shifter arm 180 deg and re-bolt.

I just need my friend to solder it in. I already have a fog light switch working for the power mode. I will reuse the ground set up of that. This is going in under the radio so I will tap power of that for the light in this switch. Hopefully will get it put in next weekend.

Got my car mount for my phone, threw that in so I can use torque and the track cam plugin if I feel the need. I also received my new two piece USDM headlights, can't wait to order my retrofit goodies this week... it's going to be awesome.

I did sparkplugs, air filter, rear diff oil, threw on some battery terminal protectors and vacuumed out my mom's '10 Legacy.
Found a Honda Civic fog light on the side of the road. Contemplating how to fit a set of those in a GT bumper. I'm thinking about maybe using the 98-99 L fog light inserts and fitting the Type R fogs in there. Just for a different look.

I heard you were going to be putting projectors into USDM light fixtures and I did not expect them to look nearly so awesome! Aside from the projector lenses themselves, the black reflectors is a big WIN, and the USDM outer lens cover has a cool grid pattern that looks unexpectedly great too! Nice work! :smt023
Doesn't really sound like a plug-and-play retrofit, so hopefully people will still buy our 4Zero1 JDM harnesses (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=25573) when they decide on JDM lights after all ;)

With my retrofit, the MotoControl harness plugs right in... but you're still mounting the control box, grounds, power, ballasts, cutting the hell out of your housings to mount the projector, spending hours tuning the projector for optimal performance and tweaking alignment, adjusting the alignment of the HID bulbs in the bulbs holders to get the hot spot in the perfect position for the brightest high beams and evenly distributed low beam... Converting my JDM projectors to LHD cutoff took maybe 90 minutes, and install with the 4Zero1 JDM harnesses (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=25573) would be a breeze. Pretty much 3 bolts, plug in the adapter, and you're done.
Stuff I did to my car yesterday... went to the shop I do my detailing work at and installed my bugeye seats, added my second factory under seat subwoofer, and had one of my installer buddies disassemble and clean the inside of my head unit. Previous owner spilled shit and it got inside the HU, and the pots needed cleaning too. Way too damn hot... 100°F inside the shop.

Question: on the JDM headlights which color are the wires that need to be grounded
To keep the lows on with the high beams? I just pulled this from the DIY on JDM projectors.
To keep the High Beams on, as was stated earlier, take the yellow wire (low beam ground) from each light, cut it from the harness and ground it to a body point. I used the outer bolts for the headlights using eye hooks.

they did in some gen 1 legacies and the blip in 95 maybe 96 some were 3.90 (like my 95 L was)...
but yeah I guess by default it's a better bet it would be 4.11 :smt012
My world changed after I'd been lifted running 3.90s for like 7 years then changed to a 4.11. It was amazing! it drives like stock now even with 26.5" ATs.

How would I check this?
You can call your dealer and ask them. give them the VIN and or trans code (side of the transmission by the starter)
The famous subaru transmission chart on the interwebs shows mine incorrectly, and it doesn not have the exact trans code as is on my stock transmission. I thin your best bet is to call the dealer with the given info, they should be able to decifer and tell you.

90-91 5mt legacy was 4.11
96 ej22 outback was 4.11
all other legacy ej22 5mts were 3.90
any ej25 5mt was 4.11

Hey, since you've been into your dash cluster recently... Any chance you happened to notice an indicator (maybe not wired or bulbed) that just says "LO"? I remember seeing someone somewhere a long time ago post a pic of that years ago... I wonder if I have it in my 95, but since we in the States didn't get that option, its not connected/fused, so I haven't had my instrument cluster apart to look for it... Nor until recently have i had reason to look for it.
I know, randumb question just curious though.

No, they're rails that run from the body frame up to the bumper beam, and anchor several points, including the engine crossmember:
My new ones:

I don't think the BD/BG/BK have these as I don't remember them on my Outback. Probably something to do with newer crash safety standards or just Subaru wanting to stiffen things up.

Yeah, the Forester is the same, but I didn't need to replace the front part there.
I like that aftermarket one. Looks like it stiffens things up a bit all the way across. I wonder how that interferes with the exhaust though.
In other news, I got the rails on. Front end feels a little stiffer and less rattle-ey over bumps and it's ready for the alignment now!

While driving today I had my son in the back seat and could hear him talking to himself and laughing. it sounded like he was sitting on a washer machine. So I took a look under the car and noticed I need a new end link on the rear passenger side. Which also explains why the car kinds sways on hard turns. I've been trying to catch up on bills and nothing yet. I just keep losing and my car keeps getting neglected with parts :( it's really starting to piss me off that I can't do nothing to fix it for now.

I got my 09 Legacy programmed and cut today. Definitely liking the lighter pocket.

For any BE/BP owners with the Alpine keyless system, it's a great upgrade.
Oh dang! That's an awesome idea! Where'd you snag the blank from/how much?

They're $37.50 on eBay, free shipping. Couple of bucks more to get it cut at the hardware store. The programming of the remote is easyish, and if you have anything before an '05, you don't have to deal with the immobilizer.
If you have anything '05+ then you have to either fork over the money to get the chip programmed or you can do microsurgery on your existing key and pry the chip out and place it in the new key.
It doesn't really have better range than the old FOB, but it seems more consistent.

I replaced the clutch master cylinder with an exedy one that I removed the delay valve from. Much more direct clutch feel and no more "slipping" from the faulty delay valve kicking in every time I shift. Pedal feel is also a lot lighter, which is good - it used to be hard as a rock.

Also forgot to mention I fixed my trunk latch. The damn thing worked one minute. Let the wife pull the handle to the latch and decided to shit the bed. I finally got it open with a broom stick from the rear passenger seat and saw this little tab on the trunk latch.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/08/sagusuhu-1.jpg
Apparently if the tab is flipped up it cancels the trunk from being popped open. For valet purposes or police trying to open UR trunk when there's dead bodies and explosives back there. Now all would've been great if my damn key opened the trunk but for some damned reason it doesn't.
After that episode I went and cleaned the glasses on my car (which haven't been touched for months!) and decided to clean my wiper blades

This is one blade wiped 2ce of its filth! Now I can see again without nasty streaks. And lastly armor alled the inside of the car and everything is so shiny n glistening. (No pix)

I'm not totally sold on the fin. The rims are hawt! But the spoiler :-/ meh. Not sure I can say why, maybe i don't like how it overlaps the body, but maybe that's just 'cuz the trunck is more incut leaving more body/fender on the side, but then from the side it's kinda cool, but then i'm not sure. . . . :smt017

If you have the Alpine system it's a bit tricky and take a few tries to get the car into programming mode, but it's not impossible to do at home, by yourself:
1. Unlock all doors
2. Open & Close driver's door
3. Put key in ignition
4. Rapidly switch the key back and forth between "lock" and "on" (not start, and don't pull the key out) 10 times within 15 seconds. You must do so rapidly, it may not work the 1st time.
5. Open & Close driver's door. The horn should honk once to indicate you're in programming mode
6. Hit any functional key (say lock or unlock) on the remote you wish to program. Horn will honk twice to indicate successful programming. You can program any additional remotes (up to 4 total) at this time.
7. Remove key from ignition to end programming mode. Horn should honk 3 times.
Cars101.com has these instructions too, but I found my experience varied slightly. Just make sure you fire the key rapidly back and forth quickly, and it'll work.
Note: This is for the Alpine keyless system found in Subarus between '99 and '04 (rounded edges fob, not the square old fob).

I am a bit confused by this post..
So, the 2nd gen Legacy RSB fits into an 03 Impreza Outback (Outback Sport?)? Or an 03 Outback Sedan (BE)? And by Gen 1 OB, you mean a 96-99?.. aka an outback trimmed 2nd Gen Legacy?
Gah, I hate all these inconsistent acronyms and generation designations that have creeped into the internets..

96-99 Legacy Outback rsb will fit 92-99 Legacy's that originally had a rsb with no modification, will need lateral links swapped if it's a non-rsb car originally. The same is also true for 93-07 Impreza.

The rear suspension on the GD (02-07) Impreza is very similar to the BD (95-99) Legacy. He swapped his 15mm bar from his Legacy onto an 03 Impreza. His deduction was that since an 18mm outback bar is an upgrade for the Legacy, you could put an 18mm Outback (BG) bar on a GD Impreza. Plenty more WRX bars are available from that chassis though, since so many WRX owners upgrade. It would probably be easier to get a WRX bar. Not sure exactly what size they are, but they must be similar.
The 03 Legacy (BE) has a completely different rear suspension from the others, it wouldn't work.

Yeah you got it.
95-99 legacy rear sway bar fits into an 03 OBS (and I assume by extrapolation, 00-07 Imprezas).
I swapped a 95 legacy sedan bar into an 03 OBS wagon and since I swapped a 98 legacy OB wagon bar into that 95 legacy sedan, I assume it would also go into the OBS too.
While I admit I don't know them all, body codes are more accurate in these situations. :smt002 ;)
