me, nothing. but i know other people have. this isn't where you post up your whole project and your life story. just maybe what you did today. whether it be change your radio or your oil, or finally finish up a swap you've been working on. why not post it up and let everyone know your accomplishment

I'm looking towards redoing all my interior lighting to LED bulbs this weekend. I also wanna look further into redoing my instrument cluster lights. Don't have a dremel so it might just be me replacing old bulbs with LED counterparts. I want cherry blossom red!

Also looking to try to wire independent fogs this weekend as well, but even tho all the writeups sound real good, i'm still confused as hell.

YO, ok so just looking at JDMLegacy's recent post on his/her Member's Ride section. I saw they just swapped out Bumper beams.

When me and Shane swapped bumpers, i kept my whole bumper, but Shane said that the beam came from an outback or something, and i got that nasty looking gap.

If i swap out JUST the GT beam from my old bumper, can i attach that to the fog light bracket plastic thing, basically, swap out the beam only after taking off my bumper and reinstalling it. Will it take much time? I want my rustbucket looking good from the front at least.

Not my car, but I installed front and rear seats in JDMLegacy's car. Had a cup of green tea in the process. Discovered what looks like DEER hair under the old rear seat. Found 3 box cutters under the seats and some interesting looking snacks. Got the brake lights and horn working again.

May have bought another set of wheels.

Rerouted the keyless wiring system in my car so that I don't keep hitting the box with my clutch foot, regreased clutch mechanism, reset ECU for crappy winter gas and colder starting temps.
Prayed car didn't need spark plug change and went looking for my lost torx set (no Momo for me today).

Today I did a lot!
-I pulled the entire rear brake assembly off the '91 SS! (hubs, knuckles and all)
-Did the driver side valve cover gasket - that'd be the "harder" side
-Switched over to my studless snow/WRX wheel setup. I haven't gotten around to painting them yet though. I'm going to get the Grimmspeed BBS gold wheel paint
-I repainted my wiper arms matte black. That made a big difference.
-Picked up some new grill clips at the dealership
-Replaced the passenger side windshield wiper assembly because the bushings were worn out and it was smacking the bottom plastic piece of the windshield.

Ok, I'm having brake "issues" so I needed to bleed them (or so I thought) there is no pressure when you step on the brake, the pedal goes all the way to the floor, and the car doesn't really stop sorts slows, but not stop, SO work needed to be done and it was cold and snowing, I drove across town in my car that doesn't stop, with my bald tires, in the damn snow to my brothes house to use his garage,

Bled the brakes, now its worse......

Gonna try it again in the morning,

Eh

Huffer
12-13-2008, 08:09 AM
You might still have air in the system Liz... if the brakes are bled correctly and the master cylinder are working you should have good pressure.
You need to bleed in a X-pattern, FR, RR, FL, RL.

If I can get myself out of the apartment today I will be doing: swapping speakers and wing mirrors, installing 1 DIN pocket (thanks KAG) and my stock seatbelt buckles.

Yeah, right!

JDMLegacy
12-13-2008, 09:43 AM
An X pattern? Really? Oh man....... That was a pain.... I'll try it your way!! I'm about to head out the door, re bleed every thing, and attempt to find a leak......

New Wheels and tires(again), Un-installed CB used for 48 hours cancer benefit. Installed Hawk HPS's on the front 4-pots, might mix it up and put HP+ on the rear for a more favorable rear brake bias.

18x8's, 245-45-18 tires. Meaty. Wheels look a bit ricey though, might go for a paintjob to basic silver in the spring.

....and found out my fuel tank neck was rusted out too. :-(

It's a PITA to install. When you get it, coat it with underbody coating before installing - then recoat it after it's on. Do NOT reinstall the stupid plastic shield thing. All that does is hold water and dirt close to the pipe which then rusts out.

I took one look at mine and went to the dealer. Cost me $200 but I didn't have to worry about it. When I got it back, I took the plastic shield off and coated the crap out of it.

This weekend I finally got around to:
oil change - and found a slow leak from the front covers... which means timing belt change this summer yay :(
attempted to realign my headlights - and discovered my adjustment screws are all rusted to poop
installed a rear license plate surround - which I had bought from ebay and thought I was getting a nice engraved one, and it turned out to be a stupid sticker
installed new front speakers and tidied up the wiring so the doors don't rattle as much
cleaned PCV valve
painted my replacement wheel so no more "clown wheels", just ghettofab.
discovered a slow leak from my drivers wheel
attempted to install my black 97 foldable wing mirrors - screws won't budge

*sigh*

WRX owners are a dime a dozen and most run 3" high flow systems. These OEM parts just sit in the garages collecting dust and rust. It was $40 because I made the guy drive and meet me :-p

Most RS guys by the STi exhaust which is 2.5" ... no point on a N/A car. The WRX is a nice free-er flowing exhaust then the d.inky legacy exhaust system. But its design of the cat/mid pipe that really makes a difference.

what your looking at is a clean break at the driver side collector from my Borla headers, which I know have deemed them to be knockoffs since they broke so easily and they are just under 2 years old.

I did a quick fix with some exhaust cement mix and thermal wrap, which also got rid of the motorboat sound, and so far it is working out pretty well. looks like I will be buying a new exhaust manifold afterall, heh :smt005

From the thin walled pipe, mandrel bends, and lack of surface rust I'd say those are real borlas. They're notorious for cracking. The knockoffs with the thicker piping...not so much. Does your header have 3 spot welds on each runner on the head flanges? Those are another sign of Borla quality...

Oh and it looks like you have an exhaust leak around the head flange too

From the thin walled pipe, mandrel bends, and lack of surface rust I'd say those are real borlas. They're notorious for cracking. The knockoffs with the thicker piping...not so much. Does your header have 3 spot welds on each runner on the head flanges? Those are another sign of Borla quality...

Oh and it looks like you have an exhaust leak around the head flange too

ya the header flanges have that 3 spot weld you mentioned, so ya, they are true borlas. As for the leak at the flange, that is where my notorious broken stud is, which like i said, did not come out like i had hoped, broke 3 bits and drilled off center so its really blah. for the time being i used red RTV and new gaskets and just super torqued the other 2 bolts, hopefully enough to keep the leak to a minimum.

if there borlas. 1millon mile warrenty so you can get the replace for shipping cost. or if you like when you come sunday. i can weld them back together if the metal isnt to thin. before you got back to the east side. or you can sell them cheap to me for a stock manifold for the time being

I never got around to applying for the warrenty nor do I have any proof of purchase (ex gf bought them when she owed the car). As for welding them back together, it was a nice clean break so you might be able to, but the stuff i used to quick fix the break is this stuff from permetex (old man gets me stuff from them 4 free since the race car is sponsered by them  ), basically its a exhaust wrap that hardens from the heat, becoming rock solid. So ya, if you wanna do the weld AND ARE GOOD AT IT lol (last guy wasnt too good, thankfully was not my vehicle at the time) then sure you can weld it for me, but i dont want to waste precious "play" time today at the meet haha. bring your torch just in case (if its a protable one that is)

^^^ Holy shit,

Finally finished my t-belt, seal, and water pump replacement. The cam seals had a little seepage once I got to them, and the main oil pump seal was beginning to seep pretty good, although I hadn't noticed it until I got to it. So, good timing.

My cam bracket o-ring had given out though, seeping oil down on the header every now and then. I originally thought it was the seal, but further investigation revealed the o-ring had basically hardened right up, and was letting the oil pass through.

I was wondering if the timing belt, or anything for that matter had ever been changed on the car, seeing it only has 94k miles on it, and it definitely appeared to be the original belt and everything else. No evidence of mechanic hacks, which made my job a lot easier. Everything was still in amazing shape for a car of its age.

just got my gauge faces from 02legacyGT, going to install them in a few mins. hey gt, only have a slight problem to mention. a couple spots on the gauge lettering have light passing thru them, not fully covered by the color slips, any way i can fix that here? its nothing serious, but if you look hard enough you can tell they are there. (almost as if they were put on off center). Oh, and btw, thanks for the decal too, lol.

okay, again, not on the Outback, but I finally figured out my mystery problem with the CB radio: negative terminal was too small, part of the metal loop sheared off and made contact with the bolt in the antenna (which is positive), thus creating a short in the system. I didn't even notice it. Hooked it back up after fixing it and the system works amazingly. Listened to a conversation this morning over Channel 17 on the way to school. Now I just need to tune the antennas.

How big of a difference does the Nardi wheel make on the handling feel of the vehicle? I just replaced my stock GT wheel with a stock WRX Momo wheel and even that made a very noticeable difference. I can't imagine one as light as yours must be.

HUGE difference!

The nardi wheel is much much much lighter then any stock legacy wheel and even WRX/STi momo wheels.

My nardi wheel had the hub integrated with the wheel itself. Most Nardi wheels online are just for the wheel without the hub. You can buy the hub separately but thats not what i have. The wheel and the hub are one piece. The wheel sits closer to the dash due to the shorter hub. The size of the wheel maybe a few mm's smaller but nothing major, i think mine is 365mm. The biggest difference are the 3 spokes. They are much thinner and easier to maneuver your hands during over/under steer.
....

Ok now for the bad news..

Because of the design of the wheel and the hub. This wheel eliminates the clock spring. Personally I dont like when my wheel turns and my signal turns off. Specially during rush hour :-( Short lane changes and what not.

The only modification I had to do was enlarge the opening of the steering column cover by a few mm's
