How much was that pump?
$86, they usually go anywhere from $80 to $100 depending on where you buy it from. This one in particular is GSS341 with a 400-791 kit.

Well the wagon would not start this morning. It turns over but won't run. I think its a fuel delivery issue. It was also a nice warm 4 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. I then had to push it out of the way since it was blocking in the 3.0R.

we got snow/ice/slush in florida (Pensacola) that pretty much shut the whole town down, and the air station shut down (tricky bastards shut down the main gate had to search for west gate) anywho. put the one owned legacy through its paces, and noticed after doggin it quite a bit, throttle response plummeted and rough idle... to be fair I was kind of rough... but its sort of been like this since I bought it... opinions? anywho I also got passed by a little civic and he wanted to "race" at the next light and mind you its pretty much a flurry of ice patches and slush everywhere out here, needless to say he didn't go anywhere and quickly disappeared into the rear view ahhhh awd

Got the wagon started this afternoon. It has frozen fuel lines. I put some HEET in the gas tank and tried starting it about 5 mins later. It got closer to starting. About 5 mins later it started so I drove it for about a half hour and plan to take it to work tomorrow, assuming it starts....

Curb Weight ~3022lbs 3351lbs

I'm pretty sure its not 6 feet longer. 175.8" vs 108.9" ;) <<That 108 should be 180  >>
Yeah I know the newer stuff is bigger but I still have a hard time with it. I still think of legacies as the "bigger" car and imprezas and the "smaller" car but yeah, looking at the dimensions, You're right, a modern impreza is about the size of a bd with better use of interior space. :)
*EDIT*
I had to look it up, b/c I'm like that :smt024 . . . .specs from cars101.com
1995 Legacy (wagon specs removed)
Dimensions:
wheelbase - all models: 103.5"
overall width - all models: 67.5"
overall length - sedan 180.9"
Overall height: sedan 53.3"
Curb Weight: sedans : 2570-3045
2007 STI, STI Limited sedan
wheelbase - 99.4"
overall width - 68.5"
overall length - 175.8"
Overall height - 56.3"
Curb Weight: manual:3,351lbs
SOOOOOOO, in summary:
wheelbase - 95 Leg > 07 STi
overall width - 95 Leg < 07 STi
overall length - 95 Leg > 07 STi
Overall height: 95 Leg < 07 STi
Curb Weight: 95 Leg < 07 STi
So yeah, wheelbase and overall length is greater in the Legacy but width, height and mass are all greater with the STi.
Hmm, thanks :smt023

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/01/P1000453JPG-1.jpg
I was on the fence about going up to 15's maybe some braids or team dynamics b/c in the 15" world there are a lot more options for a circa 27" AT tire.
BUUUT, turns out that's a $1200ish world, for 4 rally rims AND new tires, so I just went for some 27x8.5 14 grabbers again, thinking/hoping I could get away with a pair of tires.. . . .
Turns out 30K miles on Grabbers (rotated somewhat religiously) amounts to about 75% wear
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/02/P1000625JPG-1.jpg
VS new:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/02/P1000631JPG-1.jpg
Turns out a 3 year old Grabber with about 30K miles on it is about 3" smaller in circumference!!
old tire: 80.5" (207cm) with 4/32 tread
new tire: 83.5" (212cm) with 16/32 tread - mounted 83.75" (212.5cm)
SOOOO, I bought another pair thus ending up with 4 new tires and now 3 decent spares (plus the bald BFG)

How did you manage to lose 1 water pump, never mind 2. Subaru water pumps are virtually indestructible. Do you not use Subaru coolant with distilled water? I've stripped many 200K mile motors with original water pumps and they all looked virtually new.

Due to my idiotic colorblindness, I can tell the caps are a slightly different shade than the rest of the wheel, but that's normal from what I've seen. I can't tell a bit of difference anywhere else on the wheel.

Thank you! I had a touch-up bottle of paint custom-mixed before I knew what the exact paint code was. As I was testing and experimenting, I ended up using up almost all of that bottle, and then I had a second bottle mixed to the actual paint code Subaru 89N "Titanium Pearl" (same color as the lower cladding on most 2000-2004 Outbacks). Since the wheels seemed to be powdercoated from the factory (not actually painted), the 89N paint was about a 99% match, and the earlier custom mix was about a 99.5% match :smt002
As it happened, two of the center caps I painted Titanium Pearl, and the other two are the earlier custom mix. I had to label them on the back side to keep them straightened out

Had a new clutch put in 200 mi ago, didn't do the timing belt when it was due and it snapped. I'll be throwing an ej22 in it, there's one sitting at the shop doing nothing. I just bought this 2005 Legacy 2.5GT Limited on last Thursday. 133k on the clock, and I got a really good deal on it.
It has an auto 5-speed, which is fine with me because it's MUCH better than the 4-speed I'm used to.
This is also the first car I've ever bought since my 95 is a hand-me-down.
It's quite nice and well taken care of, but the heated seats don't work and there's a mysterious button that seems to do nothing. One day I'll go on a quest to figure that out.
It's ridiculously luxurious and quiet compared to my 95. I may have to fix that! Well, I mean the quiet part, I'll keep the luxurious part, haha.
I'm keeping the wagon as well!
I hate you both...
That being said, massive congrats to the cool kids.

Got a better picture of my car, now that I've got all four snowflakes on. I'm so stoked about these wheels. Tires are fairly new, couple thousand miles, maybe.

Nice 4th gen, I love mine.
Post a pick of your mystery button, I bet I could figure it out
I'm guessing its a switch for an aux port for your stereo
A very common mod for This gen

Black wagon, with tinted windows
it was the other half's DD and it got totaled when she found the rear end of a ford station wagon. the car in front of the ford slammed on it's brakes to make a try and make a turn into a bank and then boom 3 car smash the outback pushing the ford into the car in front.
happened last year around this time.

I have the aux port there, the aux cable adapter from ae64.com (http://ae64.com/i85_transplant_harness.htm) because normality its built into the wiring harness but my car doesnt have that, and I have a newer OEM head unit that has aux abilities.
Certain the expensive route but fully oem. Even the adapter is made from a repined Impreza aux cable from Subaru.

Clutch is done, but the pedal is REALLY light and the TOB rattles like a mofo. Gotta bring it back to the guy who did it and see WTF is going on. Also swapped my front pads until I can get approval to do the BP/BL LGT front brake upgrade. Also tightened my throttle cables, since they had more slack than the back row of a Phish concert.

You're nuts must have been damaged (hehe) because they are both M10 fine thread studs... They're actually identical parts aside from the Group N having more rubber molded in.
Looking at the rust on the studs in your first picture it is no wonder why the nuts were messed up.

:smt017 Hmm, why would you NOT tighten everything back down after the install?
loosen cross member bolts
(clean/tap threads) install lockdown bolts
torque lockdown bolts
torque cross member bolts.
yeah?
here's the details in my build thread.
at first (per chilton), I torqued the crossmember bolts to 47 ft-lbs, then in my 95 legacy FSM it indicates 94 ft-lbs

The lockdown bolts aren't supposed to go flush against the crossmember, as confirmed by Peaty @ scoobymods (note the pictures in post #4):
http://www.scoobymods.com/showthread.ph ... 15c71& (http://www.scoobymods.com/showthread.php/kartboy-subframe-locking-bolts-aka-9236.html?s=a24fd00f0a097c77d01bdfdb52e15c71&)
If you follow the torque specs for the lockdown bolts they should end up short of flush with the crossmember, which is correct. I found that I had to back off a bit on one side (more like 50 ft/lb) so it wasn't too close. I've seen a lot of incorrect installation guides on Nasioc, etc where people put them all the way against the subframe which causes a lot of NVH and excess clunking.
You can certainly tighten the stock crossmember bolts back down tight, according to Peaty, 94ish ft/lb is correct.
FWIW, I love this mod. It really tightened up the rear. I can't wait for the sand on the road to clear off so I can really check the limits!
I've wondered since the first time I saw this mod, what are they supposed to do?

^ the story goes....(quoted from another forum).
"These prevent lateral movement of the rear crossmember (where the lateral links and rear of the rear diff. attach). The result is better cornering feel as it should help maintain proper geometry throughout the turn by not letting the crossmember shift under hard cornering.
Subaru has alignment holes they use for assembling the rear crossmember in the correct spot on the car, that's where these are installed. The bushing is centered upon the crossmember and the bolt runs through the bushing into the threaded inserts on the car."

Interesting. Some kits sit flush others do not. It may not apply as mine are not a kit but rather a flanged bushing and bolt...

I preferred the kartboy kits and others where the bushing was machined to incorporate the two different hole sizes of the crossmember, the upper hole is smaller than the lower etc...but either way it will tighten things up. Awesome mod for the money by far.

It may depend on whether or not you can get enough of the flanged bushing up in the crossmember to stop lateral movement without tightening it down all the way. If you can, great, if not, you may be looking at some more NVH. Given your suspension setup, I doubt you'd have to worry about cracking the crossmember, like some guys have reported with WRX/STis that are used as track or auto-x cars.

I pulled the lock cylinder for my rear gate. I have determined the cylinder is indeed frozen. I seem to be missing the connecting rod to the latch. Two more things on the salvage "to get" list. I reconnected the link Rod on passenger door. That was disco from the remote lock. It's scary that in the event of an emergency, the passenger couldn't unlock their door in a power failure. I replaced dead speakers on front passenger door. Moved the working drivers speaker to the back and Replaced it with a new one. I wrote down some measurements for some electrical mods.
Lastly I tightened the hand brake.

I'm new here, but thought I'd go ahead and join in.
I took the long way around installing a replacement set of tail lights on my 97 outback, the ones that came with the car were cracked, hazed, and the center section had a hole right over where the D/S back up light bulb was. I can honestly say it took way longer than I thought it would, I didn't realize at first i needed remove the wiper to get at the last two bolts in the middle, and i'm now going to be on the look out for some grey trim pieces to go in back to replace the two I damaged :-(
I also swapped over my stock wheels with 205 70R 15 no name trash tires that came with the car for a set of 205 50R 16s on 2.5rs wheels that have been poorly rattle canned.
lots and lots of wheel gap now with the stock suspension.
next project will probably be going after the suspension and brakes and upgrading to WRX stuff.
felt good to finally do more than put gas in it though.

On the 95, I got the front driver's side axle replaced because a boot was torn, summer wheels are on, and I had to replace a clamp on my intake that randomly came apart because of a little rust on it.
On the 05, I replaced the license plate lights with LEDs, installed a used SPT heat shield for the turbo because I didn't have the stock one, and took the tint off the front windows because it was too dark and illegal.

And this is what I will be looking at for the next week...New front rotors, Powerstop Pads, freeing and regreasing/sealing front slide pins, new Goodridge stainless brakes lines (the ones from the previous owner have seen better days), plugs, plug wires, ignition coil, exhaust gaskets, and replacing the transmission, as well as the shift linkage, clutch and pressure plate, and flywheel.

I actually used Autolite Coppers in the Outback before I sold it to my parents and it's STILL running fine years later. What's wrong with them? I mean, I'm sure they aren't as good or long lasting as an iridium plug, but at what cost? Not arguing, but asking for enlightenment.

I think any copper plug should be ok. They all need to be replaced more frequently than the iridiums. Those multi-tip things that they try to hock at the auto store is a big no-no though.

Yeah, I'm going to just use the Autolites for now. I have them, and can easily replace them when they wear out in a couple years (I don't put a ton of mileage on this car at the moment).

You don't want to use iridium or platinum tip plugs in a car that was not designed for them-and they get replaced at 90k.

I was pretty sure that they weren't really needed. I have always run these, with the exception of the Honda, which had platinum from the factory.

I did a temporary fix for my exhaust. After the stock headers were put back on, the pipes shifted and the second cat is making contact with the trans crossmember(Or atleast I think that is what it is). It is loud and is very annoying. Not too sure what to do besides redoing my exhaust. Not what I want to do at this point in time.....
Finally installed my kph to mph converter for my bfm

Got the driver's side brakes done, finally. The pins have been a pain to get unseized, and one of the passenger's side pins isn't coming out. Ordering a new caliper bracket and pins to repair that side, so by my NEXT week off, I should be driving the car again. I am going to try and at least get the old transmission out tomorrow, and hopefully get the new one in. I swear, this car fights me every single step of the way though, so we will see.

Finally got around to detailing the interior. Been too busy with customer cars to work on my own, had a few hours free this afternoon. Other stuff that's changed with the interior since I bought it... new head unit, new front speakers, memphis prd500.1 + 10" Orion XTRpro, kartboy short shifter, teardrop delrin knob, non-shattered radio trim, and it has a functioning cupholder.
When I bought the car:

I redid the passenger valve cover on the GT, and replaced the stupid "half-moon" gaskets as well this time. Hopefully this will stop oil from dripping on my exhaust. Next I think I will be installing a new turbo inlet and TMIC to throttle body hose. Brakes will have to be done soon as well.

Yep. About a quart of it. It was an accident with a unsealed bottle. While the car's in Tennessee, my mother has been driving it and cleaned it to the point of an apprentice detailer but there still is a lingering gear oil smell.
Depending on what direction this car goes, I might just strip out all the carpet by year's end.

Do your upgraded squirters spray way lower? Mine do, I'd say lower than mid height on the windshield where as the ones in our OBS seem setup to account t for spray when driving, I.e. they spray on the upper half when not moving.

The Legacy is now growing on me. I'm now happy that I made the purchase but I notice the front city light stays on while the light is off. Is this normal on the 2013?
